could also mean they hang tough in the pocket under pressure and try to make shit happen, which you 100% want an NFL bound QB to show you on film

would be curious to see how their placement here compares to their actual passing production under pressure. If they’re very productive then I’m a lot more okay with them having some sacks be their fault and not always doing the best job to escape them. The extreme version of that dichotomy is Sam Howell and even in tbh that extreme of, “daring downfield” vs “bad pocket presence” people tend to like him more than a QB who plays scared of making mistakes

    No. Other way around.
Players on the right have easier pass rush assignments, I.e. less responsibility to account for other things while pass rushing. That’s why their “expected” pass rush results are higher

it also says that at the top of the graph

he might still be a bum

all that says, really, is that he isn’t put in position to be a productive pass rusher as much as others are. And that could be for a multitude of reasons.

He could be just a really good run defender, or a good bully to move linemen out of the way on stunt play calls so that other guys can get sacks, so teams don’t put him in good one on one, or free rusher, situations. The fact Myles Garrett has a low “expected” productivity but still is off the charts shows that he is an elite, multifaceted defensive end with a complete game and a body that can handle more blockers. (Same with Dexter Lawrence in the other one.)

He also… could just suck at pass rushing and that’s why the team isn’t using them that way haha

but he has more of an excuse to be unproductive than Travon Walker does

this is a fair stance, especially if you never plan to use them in an argument

I am adamant, though, that the people who do use them to make a point understand their limitations and understand what they’re NOT saying, which is why I always am the skeptic who will respond with “but what about this”

idk, i think shes always been sorta 'edgelord-y' but she was never as much in the mainstream as she is now and its so magnified. she honestly kinda sucks, which is a huge disappointment. still hasnt addressed her buddy's r*pe allegations, but i guess her whole newfound "i dont use twitter anymore" thing would be her excuse.

Oh I actually messed up and ignored another very key factor

players toward the left on those pass rush graphs could just be getting double teamed / chipped a LOT by the opponent, which wouldn’t necessarily mean their own team isn’t at least TRYING to get them into good pass rush positions

I'm just gonna say for how much you ripped into Fields for holding onto the ball too long you sure are finding every reason for Caleb to. He's led the league in time to throw every year and up until last week or two was in the lead too. You can watch him and see it's a concern for sure but your peer group being nearly 100% undrafted guys, you have to admit, is a little concerning for someone who is supposed to be better than Lawrence.

In terms of the X axis, he's higher than both Howell and Fields and has been every year of his career. That's not to say he still isn't worth the top pick. That's just saying so far the only other QBs that far left on the chart would be Bryce Young and Zach Wilson.

In Travon Walker’s case, though, his position in the bottom right of the graph shows we *are* putting him in position to pass rush, and he’s *not* getting special attention from offensive lines, and he’s still underperforming

Fields often held the ball and stared down one receiver even when he WASNT under pressure, that’s the difference. That’s what was a red flag as far as him reading defenses at the level you expect for a top 15 pick QB. That amount of time to process a simple read doesn’t exist in the NFL and he was too comfortable with that habit, because he could always just run if the pressure got there

I mean, I've seen the comparisons that Caleb Williams will come and immediately be Mahomes level, which just seems silly setting the dude up for failure in a sense
