Saw the stage version in New York back in 2018. Fun, unsure if needed to be given the movie treatment though.

I’m not sure I understand. Is this a musical or just a remake? Everything says musical but nothing about that trailer says musical

this confused me. don’t think I’ve ever seen a musical trailer that didn’t include actual music or performance footage. weird.

    trailer is incredibly baffling

Even ignoring the fact that its a musical but they don't have any songs... Mean Girls is a super beloved movie by a lot of millennials. They probably should be the target audience for this thing, but instead they bust out a "not your mother's mean girls" line? So now I'm confused who they are even making this thing for.

It’s kind of like how the original “Frozen” didn’t feature any of its music, but instead used New Politics’ “Harlem.” A weird choice.

Like, the cast and concept seems fun and whatever but burying the lede (lead) is pretty shady and I agree I have no idea who the true audience is

None of the music is particularly great in my opinion, so I’m not surprised they aren’t sharing much of it in the trailer.

I will still be watching, of course, haha

The trailer sure made this look quite bad and cynical, lol.

Bet they had fun making it, and maybe a bunch of people will have fun with it. But, my first impression was “oh, hey, someone pulled out some old pop culture and tossed it into the microwave.”

Saw this tonight at an early fan showing and generally really liked it. I think it serves as a really decent marriage between the stage version and the 2004 film. Cast was good and the songs were great even if they didn't hit as well as the Broadway versions, and there's a nice little cameo towards the end that was definitely expected, but cool to see regardless. I think if you're a fan of musicals and Mean Girls you'll dig this.

I do agree though not marketing it as a musical is a downright stupid decision, and people walking out of the screening were very confused by the songs.

Why is it a stupid decision? People that are into musicals will know it is a musical and people who don't know it will be a musical will go to see it when they probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Musicals are one of those things that people say they hate but they will really like if it is well-made and they have already let their guard down.

I think it’s odd that people say they don’t like musicals, considering we were all raised on animated ones.

I like when people complain that they aren't realistic, neither are 80% of movies
