I think he did not sound bored at all on Half Way There, so I doubt it’s the original sound that bothers him. I think the re-recordings are just boring cash grabs to begin with lol

Also if I would have to guess I would say James was the driving force behind Night Driver

I'm not a Busted fan so I wouldn't know. But Who's David rules. The lead-in of the first pre-chorus with Charlie singing into that chorus is mega, and the bridge is feisty with just enough restraint from the pop production to avoid pop-punk cliché. That and 3am are anthems.

In fact, I won't knock much about those early singles. They're good pop songs. There's some dated-as-hell production but they're better at that mix than they are at straight Blink 182 rip-offs or sentimental guitar ballads.

I’m just going to be honest, it’s hard not to view this event as a cash grab and that’s it. One night, one event. No plans for new music. I’m thankful for anything over nothing, I guess, but as someone living in the US this was kinda the nightmare scenario.

Is Fightstar big enough for a show to be a cash grab?

Probably not. Just disappointed and trying to make sense of it.

I feel like it's more likely that he's doing Busted shit at the moment as that's where the money is but they still wanted to do something Fightstar for the anniversary and fans. It's easier to do one big arena show than a whole tour so we have this.

I'm now hoping we at least get an album this decade. :crylaugh:

Yep, agreed. Hopefully this encourages them to write and record. I know the demand is out there.

If they aren't there musically to write anything just yet, I get it. I'd rather have an album that compliments their legacy over something forced or rushed just to get something out.

MIA off Halfway There is an incredible jam. While I like their two post-reunion records a lot I've got no interest at all in their re-releases of old stuff.

Not sure I'll be going to this show as I just blew a load of money on Smashing Pumpkins tickets :tear: But the pull is strong even without new music. I met my wife at a Fightstar gig.

Thought I'd dig out the setlist from that show (2009)

    Tanhauser Gate
    Colours Bleed To Red
    The English Way
    A City On Fire
    Chemical Blood
    Mercury Summer
    Paint Your Target
    Until Then
    We Apologise For Nothing
    Amaze Us
    Grand Unification Pt 1
    Deathcar
    War Machine
    Palahniuk's Laughter

Definitely wanted more from GU in there and I remember being gutted at no I Am The Message haha.

sorry to sound selfish, but this show is for me. i got into the band in the tail end of GU, and i missed any opportunity to see them here in the us. i’ll he making the effort to fly to london for this show, as it could be the last chance i get to see them.

on the bright side, i’m hopeful that this turns into a live album release.

I know these numbers are generally kinda bullshit and don't mean anything but this has gotta be the fewest Spotify monthly listeners out of any artist to headline an arena ever lol

What are the chances they're counting on their international fans to make a highly irresponsible financial decision?:crylaugh: :worried:: : sweats while looking up flights on Expedia : :

I saw them in a pretty small club in 2009, they didn't disappoint. Mercury Summer had just started to blow up.

    hmmm

They sold out the Forum in London on their first reunion, which is 2,300 cap. They put on Brixton Academy after selling that, then pushed it back a few months to do a mini-tour, and, if my memory serves me right, it didn't come close to selling out (I think they might have left the balcony empty). That's about 5,000 cap.

Last show I saw was at the Troxy and that was pretty full if not quite sold out. 3,100 cap.

Wembley Arena is a giant leap. Twin Atlantic and Loathe as supports is more of a help than one of his brothers' tiny bands, but there's a huge reliance on nostalgia selling tickets. Possibly more Busted fan crossover this time? I don't know. I'd be surprised if they sold it.

    It's my mum's dodge caravan

Saw them play their last show before the current hiatus, in a tiny room inside a rock club in London on Halloween - totally different context but must've been only 100 capacity, amazing experience but can't remember that being sold out or completely rammed either. Have sworn off big arena gigs as they usually always suck, especially Wembley Arena lmao, but it has been so long...wish there was a good northern option instead tbh

Debating whether to go as well as I also dislike arena tours. Would have been cool if they had done the Palladium.
