I don't remember Moneyball having a fat Billy Bob Thornton and Jason Priestly falling in love with Billy Zane.

I have been fascinated by the idea that every culture had their own equivalent version of the western. Chinese have Wuxia, Japanese have the "chambara" Samurai fiction. Victorian era set colonial war epics like Zulu and Gunga Din were basically British Westerns. Soviets had "Easterns" which were usually about Russian soldiers or settlers in Central Asia. Even in Canada "Northerns" were big for a time.

Well, unless it’s “The Sisters Brothers,” which has an incredible cast and is great and absolutely no one saw it.

Man, to think Sheridan went blazing out of the gate with Sicario, Hell Or High Water, and Wind River is amazing. Incredible films

My Dad does the same thing with Yellowstone; he's seen all seasons a good 4-5 times at this point. He was obsessed with Dallas way back in the day, and Yellowstone is pretty next the modern version of that, so it tracks

It was back to back to back Neo-Western classics for Sheridan too. Sicario was 2015, Hell or High Water in 2016, and Wind River in 2017. He blew it with Sicario 2 in 2018 though.

Well then maybe all those conservatives have a point about Yellowstone. Cuz those three movies are fun

The politics of Yellowstone are so weird. One hand Yellowstone sometimes feels like a Libertarian West Wing, and then on the other hand Sheridan clearly deeply cares about covering the plight of indigenous people's with dignity and respect, in a way that some people might call "woke",

I think this is a bit of a gray area. He does a lot of things right in regards to how he handles Indigenous characters on set (a member of whatever tribe is being shown always on set, genuine clothing, etc) but I think he shot himself in the foot saying he and Wind River are the reason a law was passed

For every 3 scenes where Kevin Costner is giving a speech about small government, private property rights, and the importance of preserving rural lifestyle from cosmopolitan urban elitism, there is a scene where he nods approvingly at a gay couple kissing in public or attempts to stop an oil pipeline going through an Indian Reservation.

Sheridan is definitely a libertarian conservative, but I think his specific type of conservatism is still a bit too woke for a lot of the people who watch his shows lol

Yeah I respect the Trojan horse of it all. I just think he’s less on the right side of things than he thinks

Just to save people the click, it’s a beta being rolled out next month. Official release is slated for Spring 2024, which will probably be when Disney finishes fully acquiring Hulu from Comcast
