Welp. That Newbury Comics B2G1 sale finally got me.

I ordered Hello Exile, Even if it Kills me, and Charlie Brown Xmas.

 

Embossed cover (sadly, no gatefold), swirl vinyl and great overall sound quality make this Catalyst pressing a win!

 

Yeah, Catalyst is the fist double LP I've seen that isn't in gatefold. Wonder what the reason for that is

 

Probably a cost-savings move, but yeah kinda unfortunate.

So just a double wide spine? The colour looks wild from the photos I've seen. Mine just showed up at my PO box with no email confirmation it shipped.

 

Correct. Plenty of room for the two 140g colored discs and the colored sleeves should hold up well over time.

TEN and NFG arrived. Both in excellent condition.

Although a thick, gatefold would have been nice for Catalyst, it’s all well done from artwork to vinyl.

 

I know some Music On Vinyl pressings used to do the 2xLP that weren’t gatefold. Seems my copy of ManOrch’s Black Mike is like that too.

I don’t mind it. I’d rather them skimp on packaging thAn try to cram too much music on a single LP.

 

Well worth the nine month wait after the album initially came out.

Yeah, that Zach Bryan live set is going to be a no from me, dawg. It's a great live album, but that price is just insane. I think I paid like $45 for Red Taylor's Version and that was 4xLP!

Also, re: 2xLP in a non-gatefold sleeve, I have a few of these and I don't mind. Part of me obviously loves the look and feel of a gatefold, but I need more records that only take up a little space on the shelf! I'm running out of storage, and the "single LP but gatefold" releases are part of the problem!

 

The 2xLP in non-gatefold used to bother me, but yeah over the years I haven’t found that it’s caused any deterioration or anything. It’s nice to at least have a wide spine though for ease of sliding into the sleeve. I’ve got quite a few that don’t offer that luxury. Mostly hip hop records, often from Stones Throw

 

It's real. DHL roughed it up a bit but I don't really care.

 

Well this was a pleasant surprise this evening. Ironically I emailed Blood Records inquiring about the status of my Blink record yesterday. They said it's already been sent.

I will say, Blood Records packing job is something left to be desired as the lp was not sealed. The top and bottoms of the spine took a bit of a beating. But it's nothing to cry over. Glad to have this in my collection!

 

hopefully the records themselves are in good condition! I always get concerned anytime an artist says "oh i've discovered these extra copies of this record sitting in a box for 6 years!" only to discover that the records are somewhat damaged. JT Daly's solo record, for example, is simultaneously one of the rarer records i own but also the most warped to the point where it's unplayable. that's what happens when you leave your records sitting in an attic for half a decade.

 

Been there. My "forgotten box of records found in a dank basement" copy of FSF's Hide Nothing is so warped that it's almost unplayable. Put it between some heavy books for a week and it improved a bit. Still happy to own the record.

i might try the heavy book method with it when i leave for Christmas break. i've had mixed results with it in the past, but that was usually waiting just a week. maybe several weeks would do it good.
