If they ended Phase 4 and Phase 5 with team-ups of the characters those phases introduced, we'd all be happy right now. Instead, they keep adding more and more new characters without re-using any of them. It ruins the whole benefit of a "connected universe."

Thunderbolts could’ve easily ended Phase 4. Every single major character they plan to use in it had already been introduced before the conclusion of that phase. Now audiences are forced to be reminded to care about John Walker and Valentina 3 - 4 years without seeing them.

As for an Avengers team, was that not hinted at in the post-credit of Shang-Chi? Wong, Shang-Chi, Banner, Danvers. Half of a team there. Over 3 years later…nothing.

I always thought Avengers: The Doom Dynasty had a better ring to it… maybe they’ll actually pivot this way pending the outcome of Majors’ trial.

As you said though, they’d have to lay some build up and given the way they’re tracking right now on interconnected-ness across the current phase, I can’t say I have high hopes. Too bad, because both seasons of Loki have been stellar, it’s just everything else that mostly seems to have dropped the ball (GotG and Wandavision are the only clear “wins” for me).

The sad part is Kang is really a cool villain and would've been great as a focus for this saga.

They can still salvage the plan, they have the option built-in to just not use Majors and replace him with another variant.

Still funny that She Hulk made fun of Marvel finales and then they went and did the worst version of exactly that for Secret Invasion lol

She Hulk was fun. Let Tatiana Maslany eat.

She-Hulk was only good because of Tatiana. The writing, like most D+ shows, felt like a first draft. Some interesting ideas that either fell flat or were poorly structured.

    Re: Majors as Kang

I finished the new Marvel Studios Timeline book and there are only 3 major characters without their images shown

1 - Hulk when portrayed by Norton

2 - Rhodes when portrayed by Howard

    3 - He Who Remains

Take with that what you will. Perhaps the possibility of a recast?

I’m saying the CGI was terrible. The twerking, while not terrible, made me roll my eyes.

Kang is great, though even without all the Majors baggage, I wonder how well equipped Marvel Studios is to sell him onscreen.

If they did decide to pivot to Doom, it’d be so easy to shoot some scattered bonus scenes of an extra in costume, and then eventually have an actor dub in the voice. Not like that’d be much different than Thanos in the lead-up to Infinity War. (And, there are several confirmed projects he’d easily fit into!)

So far I don't think Marvel has sold him well on screen. Variant 1: killed in the episode he is introduced in. Variant 2: killed by Ant-Man. Variant 3: killed one episode after his introduction.

Incursions are more of a threat than Kang, which may be the point, but there is a lack of clarity. Should our heroes actually fear Kang? Should they fear his absence?

also being a shithead aside, majors was bad in antman. chalk it up to writing if you want but he was not good in it.

To me, in the comics the threat of Kang isn't in power levels but in his sheer numbers from his mastery of the timeline. For him, death is only an inconvenience.

Yeah but cinematically Kang isn’t interesting to me. Thanos was a force to be reckoned with. A power house. Kang is more along the lines of just being an annoyance.
