Might last year's drop date been influenced by the presence of Bamboozle?

To me, it would feel reasonable (and arguably better timed) for a fest like this to drop a line-up in November or December (~5-6 months out). October felt very early last year.

 

I think the blink tour being announced also kinda dictated this being announced when it did too.

 

Given the FOB and Green Day tours, if this still happens, my money's on My Chem and Weezer. I can't really think of any other bands in that ~punk~ world that'd make a lot of sense that didn't play last year, unless they go into alt-rock and pick The Killers, Foo Fighters, etc.

 

If this is Memorial Day weekend again, it could still be Green Day, but I don’t know how likely that is with tri state headling dates a few months later.

 

I don't have an update. I can ask again in a few weeks what the deal is, just had my call with this person already this week and there was no new news.

 

Just curious, how trustworthy is this person? Like is this someone you’d be surprised if they were wrong?

 

I can't confirm based on last year's announcement & all the artists who played, but I'm pretty sure Green Day is out having announced a Philly show, AC is within Philly's radius clause of 60 miles

 

I figured as much. I’m fine with them not headlining, but I’m curious who really could if this does actually happen

 

If it’s happening I think FOB is a lock since their spring tour doesn’t really come anywhere near the area.

 

They are VP at Live Nation.

 

Using the same example for Philly, FOB hits Baltimore & NYC instead of Philly, I think we can almost guarantee Adjacent happening & them being one of the headliners. Based on the rumblings across a few different threads on here & other social media platforms... it's looking like Brand New are gearing up for some announcements. Which is... something

I did see on Reddit that they have a merch drop coming for something. Brand New that is

 

I hope they don't, but it wouldn't surprise me. Idk if it was planned to be mostly "local" artists, but if you take off Blink & Paramore & a handful of other exceptions, almost the whole damn lineup is from the NYC/Philly metro areas. So that would continue that pattern

 

Seeing bands like All Time Low and A Day To Remember not even taking a dent to their careers is probably encouraging BN and their management to get back out there. But I just feel like those allegations were publicized so much more and caused so many more waves that I doubt any of the big promoters like Live Nation would want to touch them with a 10 foot pole.

 

I think that this website is not a good snapshot of the majority of peoples scruples. I can see a Brand New reunion going just fine as far as ticket sales and promotion goes. I'd love to be wrong but I just don't see it.

 

Brand new will certainly sell out any show they play. But I will not be there.

 

Don't kid yourself. Live Nation would love a Brand New reunion tour. The only thing people give a shit about is whether it will sell tickets, and it would.

 

So many people have gotten free passes, & memory spans are shorter than ever. Saves the Day came back without skipping a beat too

 

Well damn, that's a shame. I'm sure they would move tickets, I just figured not to the extent that they used to (in their final years here in NYC they headlined and sold out an arena and a 14k outdoor venue).
I see on Spotify that they only have 1 million monthly listeners, which yeah sounds like a lot but pales in comparison to a contemporary act like Taking Back Sunday (who has 3 million). I took that as an indication that a lot of people have written them off, but granted I have no idea what their numbers used to be pre-allegations.

 

But fuck all that noise lets not even put that hypothetical into the universe lol. I'm still putting my money on a MCR + FOB top line for this.

grain of salt but i also saw on reddit that someone 'in the know' said that Firefly Festival is ramping up to return in June, so who knows what headliners they'll be advertising as well.

 

If this isn’t coming back, I really wish they’d just tell us so we can stop wondering lol

 

I kinda have a hunch since it's Live Nation they'll wait until after WWWY goes on sale/sells out to even announce this thing if it's coming back.
