Can't imagine how I got the confusion from "Celebrating" and "20 year anniversary"

If they aren't playing the records in full what makes it any different from any other tour where they play the same songs from those two records, y'know?

I will only go if they play Longview and Jesus of Suburbia back to back

    From the press release

"The tour will be a larger-than-life, career-spanning celebration of one of the biggest musical acts of all time and some of the most important albums in history. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Green Day’s 1994 certified Diamond album, Dookie, and the 20th anniversary of 2004’s juggernaut, American Idiot. Each a cultural phenomenon in its own right, these albums have remained at the forefront of punk culture since their release. With blazing guitars and electrifying vocals, Green Day are ready to bring their mind-blowing collection of hits to stadiums across the country, along with plenty of additions from their newly announced album, Saviors.

    Things have changed.

Which doesn't clear anything up! Because they've not specifically said they're doing the albums in full, I don't think they are. They're dancing around it.

I hate that the tour is somewhat misleading, but I’m still excited for it! Might try for the Portland date, since I may be in the area during that time

I very strongly think that it is not misleading. They do not say "we are playing these albums in full" so you should not expect them to play these albums in full

highlyyyyy recommend a festival weekend over paying $300-400 for a single show. For the same price you’ll get to see prob 8-10 full sets each day and find wild shenanigans in the campground/late night (or in the city if it’s a non camp fest).

Also, doesn’t hurt that being a fest you can usually get closer for a headliner than you would at their arena show (considering fests are all GA/standing)

The wording is similar to that of what yellowcard did for their tour

I wasn’t confused when YC did it, and I’m not confused now. You can celebrate something without celebrating every single second of it

  12. they should call every tour "THE HEY OH TOUR" and then there will be no confusion about what they're getting from them

people were definitely mad/confused about the yellowcard tour poster, the band even had to address it several times.

Also, even if they are not playing those albums in full if they are sticking to their usual setlist (which given this is a stadium tour they probably will) they basically play those albums anyway...so I am actually hoping they don't play those albums in full

I honestly feel like it's a marketing gimmick for the normies - aka people not on threads like this. "Hey remember that band that did Dookie and American Idiot? You liked those when you were young. Come watch them play!"

Can't imagine going to this and being up in arms that they didn't play *checks notes* "Give Me Novacaine" or some shit

They will probably play a deeper cut or two from each album and that’s fine. Your mom probably thinks about your birth on your birthday but she doesn’t go get an epidural.

Ironically give me novacaine is my favourite song from that album but I did see them play it on the American idiot tour way back when

I don't know, if you have to clarify it, like Yellowcard did, I think it's showing there's a clear miscommunication between what people expect when you put "celebrating the anniversaries of Dookie and American Idiot" on a tour poster and what it actually means. I still think it's kind of shitty if that's not the case.

I mean it’s Live Nations marketing attempt to cash in on Nostalgia. It’s not shitty if you’re smart enough to see through it. It’s smart to attempt casuals, but it’s a rather hollow strategy that will have diminishing returns.

But if you go to see a movie in a theater to celebrate its anniversary you don’t expect them to only play half of the movie.
