Hurt actually has a star by it on Apple Music, doesn’t that mean it’s one of the most played?

That's crazy if it is because Hurt has generally fallen under the radar when it comes to fan discussions.

 

I’m guessing the shorter length probably made people check it and Fuck Face out.

 

The bass part in the bridge of More Than You Know is godly.

 

I miss being in the “dating stage” with this album and having no idea what direction Turpentine was taking me. I think that’s what makes it such a great song is how many different levels and themes are present within it. It takes the best of each band member and compresses them together into a killer track.

Also, I just noticed the backround “ohh, ohh”’s during the verses of More Than You Know, so cool. I keep finding pieces of that song that I love and it still reigns supreme as my favorite on this album.

 

I wish Hurt was a full 6 minute song. That little taster is so fucking good

 

Same. I'm really surprised how much more of that soundscape I was craving this time.

Compared that to the entire first reunion when I was rolling my eyes anytime Tom would let his AVA signature sound into any Blink stuff lol.

 

Turpentine is the best song on this album and it's not even close.

 

The chorus rift and vocals in "Terrified" are good but the verses and lyrics sound like a generic AVA song. "Blink Wave"'s chorus, with the synth, reminds me a lot of AVA as well. "Hurt" sounds like exactly like an AVA b-side.

I find "WWWY" and "Edging" to feel very phoned-in. Pretty much can skip those and feel like I'm not missing much. "Other Side" is kinda boring but it's okay.

The rest of this is decent-to-good. Turpentine being the huge stand-out. It feels so inspired and genuine. "More than you know" probably being my second favorite track behind it.

I definitely feel like some of these tracks could've been shaved off and used as b-sides for a more impactful, compact, album.

Overall though, not a bad album!

 

A real fuckin good Blink/AVA album would be killer. Neighbourhoods and this have hints but I want the full thing.

It’s such a great sound, but I never thought Tom hit the heights he could with AVA. Since their first record I’ve wanted an AVA album led by Tom with Mark and Travis reining him in.

 

I'm sorry but the way Tom says "like I don't go with your aesthetic" in Cut Me Off is... so hot lmao. not words I imagined myself ever saying

 

I’m finally getting around to listening to this and it’s good. Really good. I love Tom’s voice, good to have it back.

 

Just saw the new Loudwire article. I know they used some outside writers but 10 seems like alot.

 

They could use 100 and I still wouldn’t care. Why are we still doing this in 2023?

Finally had time to let the album sink in....it's okay. Far from their worst, but far from their best. It's pretty middle of the road, but since its their first album with Tom since 2011 I was kind of disappointed in it.

 

Nah, 10 is fine. 11 though… I’d cancel them so fuckin fast.

 

I just counted and (excluding Mark Hoppus, Matt Skiba, Travis Barker, and John Feldmann) they had 17 (outside) songwriters on the album for Nine.
