I am coming back to this more than I expected. The only two I’m not keen on are Keep Going and Quit Trying. The effect on the chorus sounds similar to me.

wow to the back half of this album, at first listen i start from the beginning, had already heard the first 4 tracks but the rest wow, such a strong comeback album after 7 years since the last one. i am very impressed, it sounds fresh and new and still TBS. job well done fellas!

  7. Clicked play and Keep Going is one hell of a jam. Love the rapid cadence of Adam's vocals, bring me that urgency I love about their iconic upbeat songs.

  8. I Am The Only One Who Knows You is flooring me. The production is top notch... all those flourishes! They really open the whole thing up and entrance me with the atmosphere. Having a very good feeling about this album so far.

  9. Quit Trying might already be one of my favorite TBS songs. Something about it feels like a callback to Everything Must Go sonically. Moody TBS at its best.

  10. Honestly this may be the best Adam has ever sounded? He's finally staying in a range he's comfortable with instead of shrieking all over the places. Exaggerating a little bit, I admit, but that was something he was still doing even on their more recent records. Instead he's going for a more restrained performance here and it makes so many lines hit just right (his performance on The Stranger... oof, he killed it!!), while letting the other guys shine on their own.

This really feels like a grown up version of TBS. No attempts at recapturing past sounds for nostalgia's sake, just a very logical and solid continuation of where they've been headed since John and Shaun's return 13 years ago. I'm so so pleased with the whole thing, and Tushar Apte crushed it on the production. I hope they'll work with him again in the future because who knows where they end up on a second record together? Anyway, welcome back boys!

I can't wait to dive in further when I'm feeling a little better. I hear everything slightly out of tune due to last week's surgery so some parts sound funny/wrong lol.

I think this is a pretty great summary of the album. This and how lean it is really go a long way to making 152 their best album in years (as much as those years still had some material that was quite good imo).

I think the production on his voice is great, it sounds a bit more raw, but I’ve never had an issue with how his voice is produced on their recordings. Ironically though, I feel like on this album he sounds a little less restrained, letting his voice stretch and wander a bit more than usual, not hiding his inflections behind production, which is in part of why it sounds so authentic. It just sounds live.

I can’t remember where I heard it cause it feels like they’ve done so many podcasts recently, but Adam said they wound up using the demo version of the vocals on that song because they couldn’t recreate the specific sound when they were in the studio.

yeah like, 2003-ishhh to 2010-ishhh call it 7 years? that felt like foreverrrrrrrrr lol

  17. To put it another way, as much time passed between Tidal Wave and 152 as their initial departure in 2003 and their return in 2010.

    Feel old yet?

    D'oh! Prestigious

doesn't make me feel old though hahh (as much as other things like TAYF being 21), but - it shows how different it is to wait for something when you know it's on the horizon, and how it feels when you consider something might not happen at all, seems like it stretches more and more in time then

    this is all there is

I'm really enjoying the album, but this is my main question as well, John mostly feels like he's on harmony duty. Have they talked about this in any interviews?

I always want more John Nolan, he's always been one of my favorite vocalists, but this album is so good it doesn't bother me one bit. What he's doing on it is great
