This guy was next to me at Mulaney tonight

 

The worst!

 

I saw a good chunk of this hour last November. It's fantastic.

 

I believe I am a part of the special title lol

 

Yeah I’m good.

 

A decade ago, I would have been psyched. I kind of soured on him after he did that weird video where he defended Louis CK.

 

I liked when he’d show up on podcasts and annoy the hosts and when he first started his podcast but I think his blip of getting opportunities (TBS show, HBO show) occurred around the time I was maybe a bit bitter about how comedy and the entertainment industry works and has negatively flavored my appreciation of him. I have a lot of friends who were looking for career opportunities and knew a ton of very funny stand ups and sketch and improv people and it rubbed me the wrong way when Conan was sorta saying he was ‘the’ guy of the new crop of comedians and then he got an autobiographical HBO show via Apatow. It just sorta underlined that some of the business is picking dudes you like and helping them get a leg up.

 

He's funny, but his delivery is so aggravating

 

I never liked his stand-up but was surprised I liked his show on HBO.

Just saw the first of Joe Pera’s Pittsburgh residency workshop. Really funny, just trying shit out for his new hour. I originally had a ticket to see him Saturday but had to return it. Might try the stand by line because I really want to see how this changes over this week

I thought the special was just okay.

 

its funny to imagine him as cancelled cuz he would still pretty much be a no-namer if he were on SNL but now he's extremely popular with a certain group

 

Everything I’ve seen from him has been funny, he just runs with that shitty LOS crew. He/Tommy Pope are funnier than any of them, though

 

my friend listens to LOS and will text me paragraphs about episodes. I do not listen to the show and do not care yet he still does it almost weekly.

 

Gillis is (unfortunately) funny, but everyone I know who likes him IRL whines about cancel culture and is generally insufferable
