I didn't respond to that because it doesn't matter. Completion percentage doesn't matter. Accuracy percentage is literally adjusted completion. A drop counts as an incompletion. So does a spike. So does a tipped ball. So does throwing the ball away. Removing those other factors helps paint a more accurate picture.

that's... not true either. Herbert had a 4:1 TD/INT ratio in college. AR wasn't even 2:1. Measure turnovers against how many completions and attempts they had.

I strongly disagree that TD INT ratio and wins don't matter. Strongly disagree. I'm not saying every QB with a high ratio and a lot of wins is good, but I am saying its a tough sell to be a good NFL QB if you didn't have that kinda success in college

Matt, you really gotta work on being pretentious about stats. Like, really. This is not a good look.

You can't be telling people the stats they brought up dont matter when you're not even operationalizing your own stats correctly

  5. Pickett has as many 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives as Trevor Lawrence. Makes you think.

And Herbert had 3.1 turnover worthy plays and AR had 3.3, both on the low end.

Neither of those really matter that much. There's not really any correlation between them and NFL success.

....i'm literally telling you what the stat is and why it's more important...what

Again, I disagree. QBs who commit a lot of turnovers in college are probably not going to succeed in the NFL

And it's very ,very basic football to understand that a QB throwing the ball more opens you up to more turnovers. Herbert was 95 and 23 in college. Richardson was 24 and 15.

The rate matters far more than the amount. Herbert and Richardson had almost identical rates.

I know what you were intending so I responded with the stat that was relevant. I was probably too dismissive about it, I apologize.

    again, they did not.

Richardson had 15 interceptions in 393 attempts

Herbert had 23 interceptions in 1293 attempts

    those are not even close

3.1% vs. 3.3% turnover worthy plays.

"turnover worthy plays" is not an objective stat

that's somebody literally watching the game and being like "oh that could've been a turnover" versus "oh that wasn't his fault"

very easy for bias to get in the way. And clearly, it has, because those "rates" don't make any sense compared to the number of turnovers each QB had per attempt

it is. it tracks interceptions as well as those that were dropped and also factors in fumbling.

it's clearly not. There is NO WAY 23 interceptoins in 1293 attempts should be anywhere close to 15 interceptions in 393 attempts. The math dictates that that is bad methodology

it's not tracking interception percentage. it's tracking the percentage of plays that could result in a turnover.

And it's flat out not possible that Herbert got four times luckier than AR. So something with that stat is wrong, because AR threw picks at nearly four times the rate herbert did
