If they got Taylor, yeah that would be overboard as shit lol. I can respect that they are getting elite rushing yards out of a 170 lb guy they drafted and a backup RB who has been coached by McDaniel since SF though

Chubb and Ramsey were loud moves but they’re also coming off injuries and past their primes already so it’s still not as loud as the Rams acquiring peak Ramsey and peak Von etc

 

lol this line of demarkation between the Rams and everyone else is so hard to track and seemingly so fluid but oh well. I don't need to convince you to like what they did and idk why i'm trying it's silly for both of us haha. How are you otherwise?

 

For what it’s worth I think the Saints have been loud forever in a less successful way than the Rams and I’m glad they’re absolutely eating it lately lol

 

Laura told me yesterday that once she saw someone say that they haven't listened to a Green Day album since the 90s because one time someone in the band made fun of a guy in blink's shorts???? And that apparently people care a lot about some nonexistent rivalry between the two. Y'all are living wild lives posting in those threads with them

Like i've been having fun posting in the thread because i am really enjoying the album and it's fun to enjoy with other people, but it's helpful going in knowing some deranged shit is about to go down and to just scroll on by haha

 

And really more so what I didn’t like about the Rams is that their answer to every problem ever was “sign or trade for someone big because we’re LA and everyone wants to come here”.

Is it a valid strategy absolutely - but I am biased as a fan of a small market team, I wanna see teams find a decently high proportion of their own talent either through the draft, or through quietly good acquisitions of guys who are good fits for the team even if they weren’t amazing before. That’s the strategy I like in all sports. It feels smarter and less obvious / hype-chasing. (This is entirely subjective, anyone can disagree and that’s fine.)

another example exists in basketball - loved the home grown Lakers that drafted Kobe and got Shaq before he was really SHAQ. Since then they’ve been really annoying to me hahah cause they always be the loudest about free agents

It's probably the closest the website gets to Absolutepunk energy. It's like, back in those days every thread had Chorus blink thread energy, and the Absolutepunk blink thread I'm sure exceeded that even worse

 

Yeah I won't lie I couldn't listen to that one. I recently decided to do a full discog listen and that's the only one I couldn't stomach. They had some that were bad but I still powered through, but FOAM was way too bad

LA in particular is a very fairweather city and I don’t like that teams’ strategy there is to play into the celebrity worship embedded into the city

but other annoying loud teams exist

 

TRIO get more hate than it rightfully deserves. I think you can make a halfway decent album with the good songs across all 3 of them albums.
