Maybe I’m jaded because of the never ending “rust” excuses for Watson sucking but why? It’s not like he’s coming back from an injury, why would he need a year to prove he’s elite or a top tier #1, which is Davante’s floor.

Davante’s floor is not as high as you think (even though his ceiling is absurd) because we’re seeing so much of it now and it’s only going to drop over time. I think with Ridley it’s a combination of the years off AND being a younger guy. I also think with the chaos that has surrounded Lawrence since being drafted he desperately needs some consistency in what he has around him and if Davante isn’t who he was then that’s quite a gamble to take for the pieces around Lawrence

With Watson I think the rust excuse is both real and not real because I think he’s been on and off forever and at this point as a player he is who he is, which is bad. He’s never going to be consistent because he couldn’t stop getting hurt or committing felonies
