Idk. Does it lessen the appeal of seeing them at wwwy23? A bit. But ill take what I can get from one of the very few bands out there I've never seen live.

It's just so weird and random that these guys couldn't figure it out. I'd hate to know what it is that can't get them back together for like 1-5 shows?

I'll still have a good time but huh

How did you find this?? Awesome. There might have been more - maybe some rough acoustic demos or something? But my memory could be way off. Either way, hell of a find.

Well that's a bummer... Fenix Tx was always with Will (in whatever lineup there was).

Like others have said, I have no interest in the band if Will is not in it.

Yeah, I only remember (and saving) just the three demo songs off soundcloud:

    Coming Home
    Bending Over Backwards
    Nothing Seems Bigger Than This

Not sure if there were anymore or if I missed them.

    Just on Soulseek

Coming Home's the best of them, even if the lyrics are cheesy.

With WWWY a week away, are we excited to see them or nah? When was their last show?

Eh without William Salazar in the band, it just isn't the same...

If I was going to WWWY fest (which sadly I'm not) I'd give them a skip now (which is a shame because I liked Fenix TX).

See idk like Fenix tx to me isn't this iconic, omg level of band that if it isn't the original band members im not into. I'm excited because I've seen almost every band I've ever liked live at least once but never Fenix tx (because they've been essentially defunct for 20 years m).

I don't even really think his voice is THAT unique or anything.

Is it an asterisk? Definitely . But hey, I can hear all my fault, surf song etc live. I'll take it.

you can say that about any lead singer of a band. Considering this band has been non-existent for almost 20 years, i think it's a bit of take what you can get.

the only band i can think of at the top of my head is Tsunami Bomb, a band i'm a big fan of. When they came back without Emily, it was a blow. I love her voice and i felt the band without her would be silly, but alas, almost 8 years later, this "newer" version of tsunami bomb has been touring sporadicaly, came out with a new album, and as a tsunami bomb it's been better decent and better than nothing. I've gotten to see Tsunami Bomb live 3 times since and the shows have been a lot of fun.

I agree, he's the only consistent member of the band so without him it just wouldn't be the band...

(Obviously this band could have been formed under different terms, but an example I think of) would be like if Tom DeLonge left Angels and Airwaves and Ilan Rubin decided to carry on the band with a new lead singer or an even better example would be if both Mark and Tom left blink-182 and Travis kept the band going with two new co-leads (who both play bass and guitar respectively).

Kinda stupid to debate really since some will get more mileage out of it than others.

For some, the vocalist is an irreplaceable part of the package, and for others they're not. And neither take is wrong, it's just about what you enjoy and what you identify with.

There are several bands I enjoy that have seen vocalist changes over the years, and sometimes the change is for the better, and sometimes it isn't, but I still appreciate attempts to give the fanbase a live destination.

  19. I went to the SLC date of that tour! That was my first time seeing Unwritten Law. I saw Brian Diaz (Mark Hoppus' current bass tech) there and told him I loved his old band The Reunion Show, and he was shocked that anyone even remembered them haha.

I was prolly like the biggest Ch Ch Ch Ha Ha Ha and Sing The Body Electric fan out there, im way into Damian and Adam’s pursuits, but it doesn’t seem like this version of Fenix TX has Will’s blessing and that casts a sour mood on the whole thing

It seems like Fenix TX was being dragged in two directions, it’s too bad they never found a sound that drew from across their influences

fenix tx AND finch, it's tough when you can't compromise on a sound/direction after you've made something so good.
