I tend to have to do the same thing. I remember reading about the one chord being missed in When I Was Young and I searched for it and overanalyzed it when I finally listened to myself and it kinda ruined it for me.

Although I will 100% miss the interactions going on here. Too fun.

After one listen I'm not really a fan tbh but I'm sure it will grow on me

 

I get that it’s a Cure sample, and I do love that song, but the way it’s arranged here made me think I got one of those YouTube survey things

 

Getting huge Bloc Party vibes in the chorus… the guitars.

Gave it one more listen this morning and I'm feeling it a lot more. Definitely hearing The Cure vibes after more listens.

Man, I know that lyrics are not the strong suit of the band. And I'm sure that if some of their old songs that I really love came out now I'd shit on the lyrics too. But like, they're smart guys. They're very good at putting songs together. How is this the best that they come up with? Outside of "One More Time", which I also find a bit clunky lyrically, these songs are fucking dreadful lyrically haha.

It's a catchy song, as they all are, but I don't know if there's any replay value here for me. We'll see when the album comes out.
