I don’t really like the BOCC album cause I’m over Conor at this point.

I've never really been able to get into any Connor Oberst projects.

 

I lean toward Punisher, but Stranger In The Alps is also great. Honestly, the only song I skip from either is "Would You Rather" (see my previous post for reasons I guess).

 

I wasn’t ever into Bright Eyes much at all, outside of a couple songs (tho I do love that first Desaparecidos album), so I overall don’t care much for Conor. I just think they worked well together and loved the batch of songs they came up with and the overall sound of the record. maybe I am just a rockist at heart idk. I’ve dragged my feet on checking out the boygenius record because the EP, while good, was definitely my least favorite thing Phoebe’s been involved in and also bc honestly I have cooled a lot on Phoebe overall over the past couple years. I think Punisher had a lot to do with that actually, like I said I think it is a good record but I just didn’t ever connect with it on a deeper level (again, I Know The End being a major exception, that song ends in tears nearly every time I put it on) and while I think it is a more expertly sequenced record than Stranger, I also find most of the album just blurs together for me.

 

Would be 500 songs

It is wild to think that Punisher came out over 3 years ago and just a few months into Covid.

 

Punisher defined the early COVID years for me.

 

Yup. I think that's a lot of folks. Really feels like the definitive lockdown album.

typed out my ranking and then saw that you already posted it.

 

Ranking is tough here. My favorite release is the boygenius EP but it's short, BOCC, Stranger, and Punisher are kind of all tied in my eyes, and then the record is a pretty distant last place, especially the Phoebe songs. I like everything enough, but the record overall hasn't really had staying power with me. Some songs sure, but it's very uneven.

 

Honestly, knowing we’ll likely be getting another Christmas song soon is exciting.

BOCC is a fave. I was obsessed with that album and still remember getting tickets to that show. Shout out to the drunk girl in the crowd who kept screaming conor's name and being annoying af tho
