makes me sick ripped. I’m a very casual nfg fan, but that one got a lot of listens the year it dropped.

Whatever the case, everybody involved heard it and liked it and released it. Suggesting there's something that just slipped by everyone is silly. Not like they rushed this shit.

 

first of all, lol. Now with that out of the way...

imo Resurrection is just plain not good across the board. There is maybe one good song? As for Radiosurgery, I think it's good (especially "Caught in the Act"), but not nearly as memorable as many of their other releases.

They managed to follow up Resurrection with Makes me sick, so I hold out hope that they will have a similar triumphant return with their next one.

 

I mean, a couple songs on those records are in the running for “peak” blink

I finally feel comfortable bringing this up… has anyone noticed near the beginning of Cynical when Travis is drumming and if you listen closely you can hear him scream out like he screwed up? It blows my mind that NO ONE in the studio even noticed and they just left it in! And on track one none the less! It really tainted the California era for me.

"Cacophony" is such a good one. Sounds like midwest emo for the first minute and a half.

 

I’ve seen it mentioned a couple times but I really don’t hear “California w/ Tom” in these songs.

To me it just sounds better. Maybe that’s Tom Placebo effect, but I also don’t like most things he’s done outside of blink & boxcar racer.

I could never get into California after multiple tries, and I liked a bit of Nine.

but also, I was super stoked for Skiba-182 only to feel super bummed that I just could not get into it, only liked AVA’s first & last records, loved +44, and pretty much enjoy everything Alk3 does.

WHICH LEFT ME REALLY CONFUSED ABOUT WHY I DIDNT LIKE CALIFORNIA. I’m still confused about it.

It doesn’t make any sense to compare these songs with California. Also, thinking that anything in these songs is unintentional is just crazy. And I fucking love Cheshire Cat (nostalgia is a weird thing, isn’t it?)

 

Good songs are good songs.

 

I think is too obvious to be a mistake. They definitely wanted it that way. I don’t like it either.

 

I asked. I think the vulnerability it adds is admirable, and the point of leaving it.

 

I mean, I literally cannot argue with that. I personally think the AutoTune makes the voice break sound weird, and is not personally something I would prefer to leave in a mix I worked on but fair enough. Glad to be fairly proven wrong.

this all just makes me think of when Dogs Eating Dogs released, i remember seeing a couple of people seriously wondering and debating if the guitar stopping at 2:36 in When I Was Young was a mistake or not
as if nobody in the production or the band listened to the song all the way through to notice such a blunder!
