I think it just further divides the party, hopefully they just keep fighting. If they’re divided in order to get anything done they need some dems so dems can get some things they want.

 

Also, it's worth mentioning that the MAGA-endorsed candidates didn't exactly thrive in the midterms, so they might be betting that putting one of them in the spotlight a year ahead of the election will be anti-maga messaging fuel in 2024.

This a random aside: but I am getting really tired of people crediting Florida going purple to solid red to either the "political genius" of the Florida Republicans or that somehow the people in FL got more conservative, and not just the sheer incompetence of the Florida Democratic Party.

Every time I see them running a pro-establishment former Republican, or ex-cop, or ex-prison guard against right wing populist I think " oh shit here we go again".

Like the current mayor of Tampa Jane Castor I think is the model Florida Dems try to work off of: female, queer, former chief of Police, was a lifelong Republican until she ran. Socially liberal on the surface level, but right wing in everything else.

 

McCarthy backed the insurrection, overturning the election, and opening a sham impeachment inquiry. He is one of the nitwits. There's no better or worse. The Dems actually showed spine for once and didn't bail them out, but you're playing into the same media narrative that it's always their fault.

 

I'm not blaming the democrats per se, more so just think Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise are worse people and am less than excited for one of them to be speaker lol

 

I get it on paper, but McCarthy capitulated to everything the Jim Jordans and Steve Scalises of the world wanted in the first place so there's effectively no difference, except the country gets to see even more so the shit show that party has become and the Dems aren't bailing them out again under the bullshit excuse of decorum.

One of the closing stores is right by me. Most of the times I went there someone would just walk out with an armful of stuff. Then they literally locked everything up so you needed to have an employee follow you around to fill your cart, so people simply stopped shopping there.
