Like 15 years ago I was with a friend & someone asked us to put our phones on airplane mode, & he whispered to me "Nah, I'ma put mine on Depeche Mode". And now I think about that whenever I see airplane mode or Depeche Mode

 

My first band in middle school was called desperate mode, I’d never heard of Depeche Mode, but probably had subconsciously.

That said I’ve really been into the Depeche Mode the last year and DIIV is one of my faves. Stoked they get to open on this run.

Damn I've never listened to or kept up with her so I didnt realize Mitski was so huge. 4 shows at Fenway is insane. Thats almost 40k heads a night if she sells out.

 

She's not playing Fenway Park. It's a 5,000-cap indoor venue by Fenway.

 

oops my bad, that makes way more sense! The tiny text was hard to read and all I saw was fenway park at the end of each line. 4 nights at a 5k is still pretty impressive though.

 

Mitski will eventually be the rare reluctant arena performer

 

Bought a shirt from High Vis at Furnace Fest for $25 and told their merch guy, "Damn, every shirt's been 30-35, this is a nice change of pace to be honest" and he said "Oh yeah we try to keep them for the people." Based.

 

Meanwhile, lastnight Jimmies Chicken Shack had a 7” for $20

 

Hate that it isn't till April, but damn what a lineup.

THEY DIDN'T! They only played 2 songs from BYOS, which I was surprised about. They played quite a few from their new album. There were maybe 30 people there. The band killed it though.

 

Looks like Phase Fest is announcing their lineup tomorrow. This will be the second year of the festival (I had not heard of it before today). Legends Field in Kansas City on 6/2/24.

 

Heard about a possible tour for 2024 that would have made far more sense in 2023 instead, but better late than never. I don’t want to give any specifics yet because at this point it’s only like 60% confirmed to be actually happening, and I don’t want to let anyone down if they pull the plug on it lol
