Yeah his yearly cap hits are so low because the Eagles put, like, $90m into a void year. He only makes $40m+ in a season in 2027 and 2028. He makes less than that a season from 2024-2026 because Howie always just backloads his extensions and tacks void years on knowing the cap is gonna keep rising

 

and those "void years" arent gonna matter since he will have a new contract replacing this current one by then anyways

 

If I were a cap is real person I might argue with you but since I’m not I say yea take as much as you can. Although the guy that did that the most is a serial rapist so I’m torn again help me

 

void years for average starters should not be allowed. like the browns put 4 or 5 void years on Juan Thornhill's deal because of their rapist's cap hit

 

I’m so miffed I didn’t just put a bid in for CJ Stroud so I could just play the matchups. Someone dropped Geno though so I’m thinking I might scoop him up since Metcalf and Lockett know how to catch a football and get their feet in bounds

 

real talk i just wish my quarterback didnt reignite the "what should quarterbacks get paid" conversation every time he took the field.

 

In the end I look at that as "the law is fucked". Sure, teams are awful and the way this was handled across the board was god awful, but this is all prevented by him facing actual consequences for his actions from the powers that are actually supposed to handle it. That doesn't make teams blameless obviously haha, it just means the philosophy of paying players is still solved by things being done right.

 

The cap is real but QBs aren’t even close to the only bad investment you can make. If paying your QB means you can’t afford enough good players to compete then you fucked up in several other ways, not just the QB

 

Yep, and he’ll eventually get most/all of that money, but that’s not my problem to deal with, not is it worth the headache. I just hope Hurts can improve his pocket presence and decision making because he hasn’t looked so hot through the first month of the season.

 

I don't think it's at all unreasonable for fans of a team to root for the team's (key word here is TEAM, not owner) financial flexibility to help be competitive year over year
