That MJF/Righteous match was a million times more fun than it had any right being. MJF is at the top of his craft right now. Incredible work.

Honestly my only downers are Julia losing, Fenix getting hurt which is out of anyone’s control, and being a bit burnt out for the FTR match

Yeah, this is the frustration with the AEW's womens division...there should have been a Stat v ____ match (like, a Shida or something of that ilk), and Julia, who's been building, should have gotten her marquee win over Willow in like an 8-min match. And that builds to Full Gear.

Instead, far too many of these womens mini-pushes die off after the loss and we see her cornering for 2 months until they need her to lose to Toni Storm or something.

 

Gonna be interesting to see what they do with Swerve and Hangman going forward. A proper double turn could definitely be in order. Hangman did such a good job grabbing the heel role in the match. I think he was a bit surprised just how hostile the Seattle crowd was — he certainly wasn’t expecting the “fuck you cowboy” chants. But he adapted effortlessly

 

Tony said Edge will be full time. On the shows every week and wrestling etc

why not just give Julia the title? I don’t really think giving her a win over Willow helps too much at this point. Maybe they could’ve done Julia over Britt but why not just pull the trigger tonight?

Because Statlander is on a big run and being built to something bigger...and until about a month or so ago, Julia was wrestling functionally Dark squash matches. See: Wardlow for what happens when you push a character that isnt ready yet.

It'd be like if the person to beat Orange Cassidy instead of Mox was, like, Juice Robinson because people have found him funny the last month or two.

 

I guess. But for the TV titles I really don't mind them hot potatoing a lot. Far too often I feel like both AEW and WWE err on the side of waiting too long to strike rather than striking too soon.

Julia is certainly an interesting position with the HOB I suppose though. They both offer a lot of support -- no way she'd be in the position she is now if she was just "spooky chick" and didn't have the house's backing. But at the same time, I guess its true that if if you throw her into the deep end you run the risk of pulling down the rest of the House with her.

 

Copeland's debut was perfect. Amazing show

 

I watched the first few matches, Danielson/ZSJ, and the main event. Any other matches worth watching more than the others?
