i’m not looking forward to having to hear about aaron goodwin every week though dude seems like a doofus

  2. I think Miami is ultimately responsible for their failure here but it's kinda obvious Portland made things as hard as possible for them. The Miami deal could've lumped in Phoenix if the Blazers really wanted Ayton. But for reasons we don't know, that never materialized. But I'd definitely take Herro + more picks + Ayton over the deal they got. Herro SHOULD bring a better return than Jrue but maybe not with the weird negative perspective people have toward Herro.

The Blazers are gonna get a solid package for Holiday. He can step in and start/play a key role on any contender right away. There's already a market for him and I suspect it's more robust than the Herro market

if the report from yesterday that riley refused to get on the phone after the initial offer is true, we do actually know the reason why it didn’t materialize.

  8. Herro has been in the league 4 years and the Heat have 3 ECF and 2 Finals appearances. They consider him one of their best players and he is treated as such. The idea that he isn't appealing for a contender is just weird to me.

  9. Woj and Shams both make it sound like Jrue will fetch another first at minimum. And potentially even two from a team like the Clippers.

I don’t think it’s too crazy to say this specific deal ends up being much better than what Miami was willing to give up.

  10. Alright. The league can’t allow this to fucking happen. Someone from the eastern conference please intervene

i think he is appealing to a contender. he isn’t appealing to portland, not a contender, with their roster construction and taking the ball out of their young core that they’re trying to build’s hands. this is the entire reason they’re moving dame. why bring someone else who is worse in where you’d have the same issue?

    yep

  13. Like Jrue?

I know they're flipping him. But they could flip Herro too! That's why I don't get how Miami and Portland couldn't figure something out. The report about Riley not calling them back is because he thought he had the best offer. And I think he did as far as just the bones of it. They could've lumped in Phoenix too. But two stubborn old guys got in an ego war.

  14. Contenders are willing to pay a premium for a defender like Jrue solely just for the playoffs. Herro is good and I think he’ll get better but he doesn’t offer what Jrue does even with Jrue getting older.

Teams like Boston, LA, GS, Philly etc don’t need a Herro. They need a player that can guard the opposing teams best shooter when it matters

  15. he didn't play in the postseason last season and the other run was in the bubble which is whatever.

Herro is fine but he doesn't really fit in with what Portland was trying to do and if you're trying to win now a team will probably be more interested in Holiday than Herro

man i would absolutely love to see chris paul not get to play a minute for the warriors lol

  17. Portland has a Herro. His names Anfernee Simons

In 2022, he averaged 23.4/2.7/5.8 on 46.5/42.3/86.6 shooting splits in his last 27 games without Dame. In 2023, he averaged 27.9/2.9/5.7 on 46.2/41.1/94.1 splits in 11 games without Dame.

  18. Could be true for a win-now team. But I'd argue Herro is appealing to win now teams AND rebuilding teams. A broader base for shopping the guy you want to flip.

  19. Again, they can flip Herro just like they are flipping Jrue
