Also I know people dog on premature claims like this, but shit man this really might be my AOTY. Did not see it coming

 

Album is incredible, such an wonderful progression from Life…the moments are much more restrained and subtle than before (the Midwest emo guitar tones in the break of Skip this One, the chorus of I tried to draw a straight line, etc)

 

Hell yeah. This rules.

Loved the previous album and this is a fucking home run too.

 

Why hasn’t there been any press or reviews of this

 

Absolutely bizarre to not see it get coverage on p4k or stereogum yet

I bought a $75 resale ticket last November to see him in Cleveland. No regrets.

Kind of funny that his show in Cleveland this upcoming November is only $25 (still hasn’t sold out and the upper level is closed off…)

 

I like this! Parts of it remind me of Steel Train.

Album is great, kinda reminds me of Spanish love songs. Been a fan of his TikTok skits for a couple years, crazy how talented he is musically as well.

I just put in a pre-order for the Hard Times variant. It looks cool and the magazine seems neat as well for only 5 bucks more.

 

On my third listen and I’m finally able to sit down and explore the lyrics they’re so good. Didn’t catch that he references the Kings loss last season in the playoffs lol. I feel seen. Also all of Home Alone House

Album absolutely rules. Been listening to it several times a day.

 

Been going back and forth between Lean Into Life and this all week. I definitely prefer the vocal production on 1 - he’s got limitations as a singer that actually serve the music well and I feel like the first album leaned into them (no pun intended) in a productive way whereas this tries to produce it out in a sometimes distracting way. Not a dealbreaker, but probably my one beef w the new record.

On the flipside, the synth production is a significant step up in a good way.

 

His vocals on this one are way more measured and toned back than Lean into Life, he’s working way more in his range on USA
