I can definitely believe Jalen Carter is that good haha, everyone all draft cycle knew it. How everyone let Philly get him, idk

There’s the part of me that is right there with you on Philly getting a draft steal and there’s the other part of me that feels slimy about praising Philly for getting a draft steal because they had the toughest stomach in regards to his vehicular homicide, fleeing the scene, lying to police, etc

I just simply don't believe that's why teams let him fall, I feel like if anything it's just fear of his potential punishment over caring about the character concerns. I'm not giving the other teams the benefit of the doubt that they cared a lot about that

I also get why people are shocked Stroud is better than Young so far... but I am not. Young was definitely a more exciting college QB with more "damn, he did THAT?" highlights but Stroud is good at the next-level stuff that doesn't matter as much / isn't as necessary in college.

I never wanna underestimate a guy's ability to learn high-level passing, every QBs different, Young / Richardson will have every opportunity to elevate the mental side of their game. And yes, it is very valuable that those guys can move and improvise and dodge a pass rush and throw a bomb off platform... that skill is worth drafting too. Athleticism and elusiveness like that doesn't just grow on trees, you can't coach that.

but I am always going to be more bullish on the QB prospects who already kinda get it. Just a higher floor. You never wanna end up in purgatory with a QB who's gifted enough to force you 7 wins and take you out of prime QB drafting position, but keeps getting stumped by actually good defenses and isn't good enough to re-sign. I'd rather take the less gifted guy who sets realistic standards, preparation wise, to the point he knows how to practice and what to study to get mentally ahead of those good defenses. So if I'm rolling the dice, I'd rather gamble on anything else other than a QB's basic fundamental understanding of west coast pocket passing. If I was a GM id pray to the football gods that I could stall and stack the rest of the roster until a QB like that came along and we had the ammo to get him

Would you feel the same way if the Colts had drafted him? I ask because it seems like people are more vocal about moral compass when its not their team who drafted/traded for said player.

Young also played mostly with guys who won't ever play in the NFL. Stroud played with four starting offensive linemen, three starting WRs, and a starting tight end. Along with the best offensive coordinator in college football. He also was much more of the highlight hero that you for some reason think Bryce was.

I don't praise Philly at all. If I challenge you to a game of chess and you eat the pieces and die, that doesn't make me intelligent, you're just a fucking idiot.

Two weeks ago the starting left AND right tackle for Alabama got beat in 1 on 1 pass rush reps with a 190lb sixth year corner from USF.

yeah probably; conflicted about it but not actively upset, if that makes sense

I’m not an Eagles fan, but I am a Georgia fan and generally root for alumni — I wouldn’t even say I’m “not rooting for him” because I’m hopeful this was a genuine mistake/eye-opening learning experience or that the Eagles were necessarily in the wrong for picking him, but I also think there were almost certainly grounds for pretty serious criminal charges to be filed that then weren’t and that ambiguity makes me hesitant to get excited about a “draft steal” specifically when it’s tied to a complicated situation like that

Wasn’t Bryce’s main calling card supposed to be his advanced processing? Or am I completely remembering that wrong?
