    "I'll chew on a dog!"

I’ve watched the OMT video 5 times today (twice on its own, 3 times with “reaction videos” because I want to gauge general public thoughts). I’ve cried every single time. If the visuals didn’t get me, the lyrics and the way it moves the “reactor” has. What a moving piece of music and video from a band that is not necessarily known for that kind of thing.

Fantasising about belting out One More Time in sold out arena in a few months time.

That will be the moment of the show.

OMT has grown on me already so much. The music video is so good too. I think this may do well on the radio.

I hope Dance With Me is really just a cover of the classic 112 song

It feels weird to say, but today was the final cathartic moment I've been waiting for regarding blink since 2005. While "No, It Isn't" was the angry, bitter song I needed later that year from +44, "ONE MORE TIME" is the loving, heart on your sleeve song that I waited 18 years for from Mark, Tom, and Travis.

2009-2015 had its fun moments and I'm grateful I got to see them play a few times again in my early/mid twenties, but it was ultimately more of a frustrating, underwhelming experience, and it never felt like the true spirit of the band was there. It felt more like a half-baked reaction to Travis thankfully surviving a tragedy without them actually having a plan or facing the real issues of the band and their friendships head on. That was proven over the six years as we waited 2.5 years for the boys to drop a single for an album they didn't record in the same space together, an EP the following year, and then promises for future music always delayed and never fulfilled.

Honestly, despite Untitled being their masterpiece, it felt like the friendship and camaraderie we all gravitated toward, along with the crappy punk rock they produced, had already started to pass by the time I first saw them play live in 2002 (three days after Box Car Racer dropped). Untitled is a fucking miracle, and I credit much of it to Jerry Finn for making it happen.

The Skiba era was better than I could have hoped for, but hearing the clear vitriol that Mark and Travis had for Tom in the early days of that second split was a completely understandable bummer. It was a shitty case of déjà vu. Then having to see Mark go through hell during the pandemic was awful and a painful reminder that anything can happen at any moment to anyone we care about, including ourselves. Another reminder during a long and dark period where many of us lost loved ones and realized that any moment could be our last.

But this past year has been so special. After rumors of a rekindling friendship and public mentions during Mark's recovery, it has been one joyful moment after another. Announcing the reunion and immediately dropping "EDGING" along with world tour dates and album pre-sales, the surprise Coachella set, the additional headlining Coachella set coming out of left field the following week, actually getting to see them live on their ongoing tour (they were never better in person), the teasing of the album title/release date, which paid off spectacularly with the announcement video, and finally today's single/music video (plus "MORE THAN YOU KNOW") that tackled everything previously unsaid in a way that completely broke me in the best way.

October 20th is going to be a day to remember and I'm so grateful that blink-182 are seemingly doing it all the right way, in their own special way, one more time.

A lot here Murph, but awesome that today and everything that's been happening over the last 12 months has been resonating with you so strongly.

I feel a similar way about the 2009-2015 reunion. While it was exciting and cool to see them together again, it felt like the band were on eggshells for a lot of it, which obviously they were. I saw them a few times during those years as well, and it was awesome and fun, but I think we all settled for a blink that was just there, and we hoped would improve both in friendship and music output over time.

It's amazing to hear these songs today, and just goes to show there's a lot of internal and musical work Tom needed to do to get to this point. I imagine his work with Ilan and getting his work with aliens out of his system for years helped with that, as it's pretty clear during Neighborhoods he didn't know what he wanted to present to the world.

The internal work applies for Mark I'm sure too, as he was embittered it seems post 2015, and rightfully so.

    Today's a good day.

I dunno, One More Time has the feels and the tug on the heart strings with all the nostalgia, but DED's Boxing Day, as a song, has a much more interesting melody and vibe to my ears. Definitely think it's an underrated blink song.

(Preface this by saying I’m very happy with these two songs)

But do we think we’ll get any other songs before the 20th?
