My sort of good news: got a job interview on Monday.

the sort of bad: I don’t quite have all the experience they want but it’s not difficult to learn it (I understand the theory just have never executed). But at the same time they really shot the moon and want a lot out of this role. And I don’t know their salary and they’re a smaller company so I don’t know if they can actually afford it anyway or me even.

 

I mean, welcome to every freelance job I've taken the last 5 years. If you're confident you can execute off some learning time, then what you've described is a selling point: "I'm not locked into a specific preference for working with thing X, whats your companies preferred approach?"

I tend to run into that issue with different email tools and my go-to answer is along the lines of “every job I’ve had has required me to quickly adapt to a new tool and I’ve been able to successfully. What I bring with me is the understanding of what I am meant to do with these tools to drive results.”

obviously try to be less pompous but that’s the general idea for me
