Why does every commentator feel the need to say they’re rooting for Watson and believe in him before criticizing him? I feel like I don’t hear that when other qbs play like trash. Richard Sherman who I always used to like, maybe I didn’t know enough about him, even says he’s my friend before giving analysis. Is the entire culture around the nfl this fucking gross? Like nobody can just say look he’s easy to root against right now, even the slightest acknowledgment that the guy is a sex pest scum

espn also instructs its on air talent to not mention stuff like the allegations. i was surprised last night to hear joe buck actually say "sexual misconduct". during the browns game last week i was told by the on air team that watson was "on a hiatus".

 

I DO like this play design. They basically made a bubble screen look like a “stick” playcall.

When teams see Hill leak out, they’re gonna respect his speed and get wide, and my immediate instinct watching this was “oh the TE is gonna do a fake out and then sit down in the zone after everyone followed Hill to the sideline”.

the Pats saw this as well - but that was a fake too. The TE pretends to run an out to sell the look, but then actually ends up in the perfect spot to block for Waddle once the defense realizes what’s happening.

Great misdirection for sure.

 

You're not wrong in that he wouldn't gain anything more trying to go left or right of the one defender but it seems like you would want to avoid the defender if possible, as sort of a matter of being on the offense.
