New BI goes off, at least the metal track. Don't really care much about ambient stuff, it's fine, but not something I turn to often.

The new Tomb Mold is absolutely killer though. "Fate's Tangled Thread" is the standout for me after my first listen, but not a bad track on here.

Killer month for heavy releases

 

Pantera and LoG were good last night. Missed King Parrot because of traffic. Beer was so fucking expensive, but thank good for discrete parking lot whiskey. The friend who was I with also ran into his ex(?)/former FWB that things didn't end on the best terms with who was there with her new male companion so that was fun and awkward as shit.

First impressions of the only two releases I'm getting to today based on one listen:

New Tomb Mold miiiight be their best yet. Probably gonna have to wait a bit to order it on wax because money is tight at the moment.

New Blood Incantation is alright. The death metal track is good, and the ambient track is better than anything on Timewave Zero. I just need to come to accept they'll never top Starspawn for me though.

It's cool that they were as prolific as they were for a minute there, but it's also nice when bands take a break, the members go off and explore different things (Dream Unending and Daydream Plus) and they're able to bring elements of those sounds seamlessly into the project and elevate it.

 

Damn, apparently Dawn Ray'd broke up out of nowhere:

2015-2023

Dawn Ray’d is finished. This band has not stopped for 8 years, we were touring before we even had any music recorded, we have toured further afield than we ever imagined; we have spoken about ideas of anarchism and liberation at every show we have ever played, given out thousands of copies of Beyond Chaos in merch orders and at shows, we have tried our best to attack fascism in this scene head on at every opportunity we have had, we have tried to use every platform, every moment possible to spread these ideas.

We are at a point where Dawn Ray’d is no longer the right vessel for us to express ourselves creatively or politically and we have said what we needed to say in places that hopefully needed to hear it.

All shows from today will be cancelled, and we sincerely apologise for that.

Thank you to anyone who cared about this and every wonderful person we have met, we have loved doing it.

All money and future merch orders will be donated to Sea Watch, and all cash will be given to Liverpool Migrant Solidarity Network.

Man this tomb mold album has a level of diversity in its sound you don’t often see with this style of metal

 

That blast beat section at about 2:35 of the Blood Incantation song is goooooood stuff.

 

Not sure I’ve ever heard a death metal song like Will of Whispers off that new Tomb Mold record. Not my usual style but mad props for doing something super unique and nailing it.

Damn. And that last album was good too - really enjoyed their acoustic track Freedom In Retrograde. Also it's kind of funny how much this breakup message mirrors similar breakup statements that actual leftist orgs will drop when they're no longer functioning, right down to the whole "no longer the right vessel/avenue" vocabulary LOL.

new Baroness fucking whips ass. Rectifies everything I didn't like about Gold & Grey (I do like the album, but it's easily my least favorite thing they've put out)
