I'm not getting paid for my labor when I use the self checkout so gotta find some way to get compensated.

Also, the move is to grab 2 things in your hand at once, scan only one, and drop both in your bag. Or at least grab 2 similar size items at the same time and scan the cheaper one twice.

didnt need a breaking story to tell me this. just gotta walk down the street.

 

I'm not trying to be greedy, just trying to be fairly compensated.

I actually use self-checkout as little as possible but stores sometimes make it all but impossible to avoid.

Is this a serious take or is there some nuance I'm missing here?

I mean, I avoid self-checkout too, but that's because I'm lazy, which I fully own. Not about to demand I get paid for packing my own groceries.

 

Definitely a serious take, and the major part of the reason I avoid self checkout. I want my local grocery stores to hire workers, not force me to do free labor for them.

 

I mean self check out literally took away jobs and then asks you to do that job for free

 

Does theft help them hire more workers? Trying to get from Point A to Point B here.

 

Get the organic produce but pay for the full pesticide variety.

Okay, cause it sounds like the theft only would benefit you as a petty way of getting back at the store for decisions that were made above their pay grade that they will never tie to your personal actions.

That's why I encourage others to do the same.

But I try to avoid self checkout so that the store realizes it needs, and it's customers like, having people there and not doing the work themselves.

The other part is definitely petty pay back but, again, they are making me do labor for them and I deserve to be compensated for it. They can "pay" me $5 for my <5 minutes of labor or they can pay a cashier $15 for an hour of theirs. I know which one I'd choose.

I totally get Eastern Oregonians' desire to be a part of Idaho, and in general I'd say "go for it." But it's so frustrating to have a story like this written and not talk about just how much fucking money it would cost Idaho to buy all that land from Oregon. Someone has to pay for it, and it would be Idaho taxpayers. All these anecdotes about people who want to pay lower business taxes, gas taxes, etc. like their neighbors across the river are cute, but no one is leveling with them, which is going to just stoke even more resentment when this movement goes nowhere.

Also forgot to say that I don’t think all of the extra workers standing around at self checkout are for theft, but because people are too stupid to use self checkout. I worked at a different target and I can’t tell you how many times people would ask me how to pay, and I’d tell them to click the giant button that says “pay”. From what I’ve seen, all the employees are there to help people checkout.
