Historical perception definitely plays into it. Pats/Steelers are always good, Browns/Dolphins always fail to live up to the hype, Lions/Chargers always have some tragedy strike.

Because the Lions had a Top-5 offense in the league and have to content with Kirk Cousins and Jordan Love, as opposed to Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.

I still don’t get how you can say Goff sucks after the season he just had but whatever lol

I’m genuinely asking because I haven’t paid attention to any talking heads but are people really saying the lions with be an NFC championship team?

oh i am absolutely not putting the Lions in the NFCCG lol - i have them fighting for a 6 or 7 seed.

the narrative around them is gonna take a big hit when they lose by 30 tonight. cannot understand why the NFL did this to them.

true but regardless of Burrow or Lamar those games are always close. We split both series last year but obviously Lamar missed one of the games.

Not really? They’re being hyped to a division winner level hopefully. Which I think is a pretty reasonable expectation for them. If they’re being hyped to anything past that it’s because the NFC is bad.

If you listen to ESPN, they’re going to win tonight by multiple scores if Kelce doesn’t play lol. Louis Riddick and Dan Orlovsky in particular have been pumping this all off-season

The Lions have a great OL, great offensive staff, potentially the best rookie tight end, a potentially elite RB duo. Goff was actually good last year. The defense was a problem but they added a fringe-elite safety to go with their strong duo, added two good corners, and then drafted two of the best defensive players in the draft. Weak spot is they're still kinda lacking a nose and they have no WR depth. I'd say EDGE2 but honestly your EDGE2 being a hot hand choice between five different guys is just excellent depth

I just think the hype for the Lions is far more justified based on last years results and the off-season vs. the Steelers which is more based on Tomlin being Tomlin, Pickens doing fun things in practice, and hoping Kenny develops. So I’d call the Lions a safer bet to contend for let’s say a playoff spot.

No Kelce or Jones is huge. Lions are lucky to play KC tonight and could sneak out a win.

Steelers also have what feels like an all Badger defense so I’m personally invested

that’s fair. Like I said last night I don’t even care about the playoffs this year. Just want to see Kenny and the team as a whole improve.

Boy I was angry like that was my own team when they made that pick. what a stupid move. There are too many better players than Hooker for me to even be like "they could've had X instead".
