I was playing all of their albums back to back this week. Invented led into Damage of course, and the "raw" sound of Damage was so much more glaring after hearing all of Invented. It sounded like I was listening to demos. I'm sure there's some charm in that for some people, but it kind of annoyed me in that moment.

 

Damage Is...

 

This is where I tend to land on the subject as well. Invented is probably my least favorite, post-Static.

 

I've only been through Invented and Damage once each.

Definitely enjoyed Damage quite a bit more.

 

While i adore both Damage and Invented, Invented gets the edge for me.

 

Invented is their second best.

This is how I knew I wanted to get into this band.

Seeing all of the arguments as to which album was their best. Not one album (post Static) is even close to unanimously their best or worst.

I've almost been listening to them for two months, with Futures and Chase This Light being the albums beckoning me to listen over and over. so much so, I've only listened to the others once each because I like those two so much.

I think its cool that Damage is getting a lot of love, but that isn't even a top five Jimmy Eat World record imo

 

Invented holds together the least well as a full length album for me. Too many songs I don't love. Damage doesn't have the same high points, but hits me way, way harder as a cohesive whole. Feel the same way about the new one.

 

more of this "post-static" rubbish. give static a listen if you havent already, because its certainly not their worst album, unanimously or otherwise.

their 1994 selftitled is better than invented and chase this light. come at me bro :P

 

Damage grew on me and now I quite enjoy the album - better writing than I first gave it credit for. Still can't get over the packaging though - weak complaint I realize, but the album art and inside photos are cringe worthy.

From the sounds of it so far, Integrity Blues sounds like a massive return to form.

What the fuck... Their 1994 album is genuinely just bad. Chase this Light is a masterpiece. And while I can see why many people view Invented as the worst post-static release, it too is a masterpiece. I mean, good on you for enjoying it (1994 s/t) so much but goddamn. Hahahaha

genuinely i think 1994 is good. not great but good. chase and invented i think are average. everything else is excellent imo.

 

I know what every single one of these words means, but I still cannot comprehend this statement.

i agree damage doesnt really have high points but i love it for its consistency and subtlety

 

I cannot comprehend Damage over CTL. CTL is one of their best records..
