Gazpacho can sometimes be puréed but the only difference between a chunky gazpacho and mild salsa is that it’s made with celery and cucumber instead of cilantro and lime

1) not all salsa is cooked, mostly just fire roasted, tomatillo and bean based ones. Fresh tomato salsa is usually not

2) there are thinner and fresher salsas - namely, the fresh tomato salsa I’m comparing to gazpacho. I’m not talking about Tostitos made with tomato paste.

3) if that’s the only difference, I’d rather eat the spicy limey salsa and gazpacho doesn’t really distinguish it for me

 

I also love that people wanna argue food with someone who has literally served in restaurants for 12 years, I kinda know what I’m talking about lol. Yes gazpacho is not salsa but it’s not different enough for me to really ever seek it out or to categorize it with other soups

Sometimes distinguishing words that are extremely similar is trivial though & what matters more is how people associate the things in their head

my legit opinion is that I’d rather order chips and fresh salsa than order a gazpacho cause it fits the same vibe but is spicier and more flavorful. And also usually way cheaper on the menu. I don’t really care if one is categorized as soup or not. Real gazpacho from Spain is one thing but in this country it’s just an excuse to use the same ingredients as salsa but charge $14

 

would you dip chips into a gazpacho

personally, to me, as a person who eats food, i've never gone to a mexican restaurant and been offered the option of adding gazpacho to my burrito. but i haven't worked at a restaurant in a decade so what do i know.
