I have officially decided that a good Popeyes is better than Bojangles and Cane’s and KFC

Chick Fil A and Zaxby’s are kind of a different thing and that makes me crave them occasionally, but I’ve been loving Popeyes the most lately.

They already do the best chicken sandwich now. Their shrimp basket is great. Their $6.99 big box is great bang for buck and some locations have deals like breast and leg for $2 or 4 pc and biscuit for $7. the Mac & cheese is outstanding for fast food and it’s the only commonly accessible place you’re gonna get rice and beans that actually tastes somewhat in the style of New Orleans. Their lemonade and sweet tea isn’t quite as fresh tasting as Chick Fil A (and they don’t have shakes), but def still better than most fast food, and they sell it by the half gallon and gallon for decent prices so that’s a big bonus.

If Popeyes ever starts taking chicken TENDERS / nuggets seriously and not just regular fried chicken it’s fuckin over. They could also double down on the southern sides and add fried okra and collard greens for veggie options.

The tenders at Zaxby’s and the nuggets at Chick Fil A are the main reason Popeyes isn’t my clear #1. Zax tenders are undefeated imo. Chick Fil A also offers fire salads, chicken soups, and shakes, and also the best fast food breakfast, so that goes hard when you don’t just want fried chicken - but at half the price and 1/6th of the line I end up going to Popeyes way more for a cheap quick meal.

 

Popeyes consistently has the worst service of any of those chains, in my experience

 

And that’s even aside from the time that an employee stole my debit card and bought an Xbox
