I thought California was sonically a very logical follow-up to +44 and seemed like the obvious expectation to have, honestly.

They won’t do anything on a Friday. It’s usually a news dump day.

Yea, California very much fit with Mark’s sensibilities in blink.

Personally, I was also looking forward to some level of weirder, off-the-wall kind of songs when Skiba first joined the band, but I quickly realized how big of a mistake that would have been in the long run. The comments of "this isn't blink!!!" were already bad enough, so imagine if "blink-182" was back for their first release in years and it sounds like an entirely different band. Even if it was good, you have to imagine tons of people would have tuned out immediately.

I also just think, as much as people try to say that it was a deliberate/forced effort, Travis and Mark were actually itching to go back to that brighter, energetic pop-punk style. Especially after having done so much of the darker/weirder stuff for the past 10+ years up until that point.

Every punk band sounds like Green Day. Barely any band sounds like blink. GD has got to be one of the most generic punk bands. I mean, you could make the argument that they set the standard for what generic is maybe. But …. That’s not a good thing lol

There are blink songs that are impossible to compare to anyone else. But GD songs sound like this and that and that and this.

As for Dookie, it might have some of the most recognizable singles. But damn. The non-singles are just … yikes.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Blink-182 fans are insufferable.

Yeah you are probably right, but I didn’t like the approach they had to it either, I remember the way they talked about it felt like it was a homage to their previous albums instead of something fresh.

Dookie, Insomniac and Nimrod will always be classics.

If anything I'm sick of the singles and love when the deeper tracks come on randomly when I shuffle.

Saw NFG last weekend in CT. Mannnnn, I’d do anything to see a YC, NFG and blink tour.

Who do you think the top 10 biggest scene bands of all time are? Accounting for popularity, longevity, etc.

  21. Gets harder and a lot could fit in as potentials after the top 6 off the top of my head:

Green Day, Blink, Fall Out Boy, My Chem, Paramore, Offspring ...

  23. Would someone like NOFX be in that category?

I dunno, I feel like the biggest scene bands would transcend the scene. The general population probably doesn't know who NOFX is.
