That's such a dumb conclusion lol. It's far more likely (yet another) sign that conservatives prefer tv/video to books.

My issue is more drawing the conclusion that support for conservative ideas is a “mirage” based on some book sales, which seems like a great recipe for being repeatedly blindsided by people like Trump.

Common sense should tell anyone that the ideas of people like Trump and Tucker are obviously quite popular with a meaningful portion of the country, and it’s better to face that reality head-on than pretend it’s some kind of psy op.

I don't think people are saying its a mirage, its more that there is very much a right-wing funded eco-chamber that continually claims to be the mouthpiece of the silent majority yet as we see here with Tucker and even guys like Steven Crowder is that at least some of this "hype", "views", "clicks", or whatever you want to call it has portion (and to some extents a big portion) that is either them using click farms, faked numbers, or creative accounting to get to their so called reach. I mean even fucking Twitter changed their numbers to use like micro seconds or some shit, or you a considered a view of a video for watching like two seconds. There is a ton of bullshit, fluff, right wing marketing at play here.

I mean the post literally says “there’s zero real interest, it’s a mirage perpetuated by rich people to make you think their ideas are popular.” That’s obviously untrue, and gaslighting yourself into thinking otherwise only makes things worse in the long run.

I am not sure about this specific situation with Tucker Carlson, mainly because I usually just try to ignore the fact that he even exists at all, but isn't it a known fact that book sales are regularly artificially propped up...??? I thought this happened a lot and everyone knew about it.

They are, and even moreso on the right wing/Christian side. Then they can say look even we can get on the NYT Best Seller. We saw it again with the Sound of Freedom movie as well.

I remember Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly books being super popular while those guys had Fox shows. And this was at a liberal owned indie bookstore. That Fox News pulpit is a money machine.

I guess it depends on what you consider a meaningful portion of the country. There is a reason they have to gerrymander the shit out of every map and still struggle to win elections, as well as astroturf their weird propaganda.
