Keep in mind I said “metro population”, because that’s actually what determines how many people work in or near the city, and go there regularly for recreation

“city population” is a relatively meaningless statistic considering it depends heavily on how small or how big the city limits are, and city borders vary widely in size. We should pretty much only discuss cities in terms of metro population because if you live in the suburbs of Charlotte, you basically are a part of most things you’d want to measure about Charlotte

I have only spent time in the Triangle area once and I definitely didn’t get the vibe it can even sniff NOLA’s level of influence, charm, and entertainment

 

maybe the full triangle, sure, but raleigh’s metro area is not

 

new orleans has great things about it but all the negatives far outweigh the positives. it’s quite possibly the worst designed major city in the country lol. it has good reasons because of the geography of the city for it but that doesn’t make getting around it any less insufferable

 

What do you mean? The subjective “coolness” of cities is one of me and @CarpetElf ‘s strongest opinions lol. Might be even more passionate about this than football /sarcasm, but not HEAVY sarcasm

Out of the metros between 1-2m I'd abstain from eliminating Providence, Milwaukee, and SLC because I haven't been there. I've either been to the rest or am simply not humoring the notion that places like Rochester and Tuscon are on that level
