It's so funny how Catalyst used to rank last on my list. Then they continued to release re-tread albums....

was it shortened for a reason? Or do we think this is the every day setlist… just checked setlist.fm and looks like TSL played 4 songs but there’s a note about audio issues. I sure hope TSL plays more than 4 songs every night and NFG plays a little longer.

To add on to that, when TSL started the only thing going through the speakers was Kenny’s vocals. The sound people seemed to have no idea what they were doing. Monitors did not work at all for TGUK. They got two working for TSL, but Bryan’s keys weren’t working. Kenny said they needed keys and Bryan said fuck it and to just play.

This tour being in amphitheaters is so asinine.

    Things have changed.

I’ve always found their live keys to be sort of unnecessary.

Brian is great and adds to the old songs and he wrote the stuff on Direction with the other guys. So his parts on those songs are more necessary as that’s the way the band wanted those songs to be.

I think the POV of saying keys are unnecessary is the wrong mindset. If you want to define what is or isn’t necessary, every band should just tour with the singer and an acoustic guitar. That’s all that’s strictly necessary.

I dunno. Calling a musicians contributions unnecessary just feels pretty shitty.

Also, NFG brought a guitarist from A Day To Remember on tour as a backup for Chad. Chad just got chemo last week, so they really weren’t sure how it was gonna go. They brought him out for Failure’s Not Flattering and I think he stayed the rest of the set. Maybe not the last song. Chad said he jumped in last second, so props to him. And of course props to Chad for touring right after chemo. He did great and only sat down for a few songs.

And props to the band for playing as many songs as they could and not taking time to talk a lot between songs. They kept it moving until the last song, where Chad got to give a motivational speech and talk about his cancer battle.

    How was AAR?

They sounded good. But only played 9 songs. I said 8 somewhere last night, but I forgot a song. So that sucked. So thinking back, there were three lengthy times where Tyson was fucking around. But not in like a bad way. At a normal show it would just be your basic stage banter length. But knowing they were short on time, they really should have cut that and squeezed in another songs. We probably missed out on an hour of live music from all the cut songs. Really ended on a bummer after the shit show of the sound for TGUK and TSL, and the super short sets. NFG killed it and while they were cut short, 10 songs for main support isn’t totally bad, so their set, given their slot, was easily the best.

I could totally see a lot of people leaving after NFG. I feel like a lot of people would be super into the NFG, TSL/MCS and TGUK who may not necessarily care to stay for an AAR headlining set when they only know a few songs by them. I’ll probably be doing that since it’s a weeknight and the shows 45 minutes to an hour away. Hopefully the rest of the tour goes smoother, I’d be pissed if I went last night haha

I don’t really know how many people left after NFG. I was upfront until after NFG so I can’t say how much the pit lessened or not. It wasn’t full for sure, but since the show undersold, I’m not sure why it wasn’t full by that time.

Respect for stepping up at the last minute as insurance, that’s nice to see, but all of the guys from ADTR rub me the wrong way after the lengths they went to protect their former piece of shit bandmate. Wish it were someone else.

Wonder if he meant FYS. I know Dan has filled in quite a few times. That'd make more sense imo
