Guardians 3 was a hit with me, probably the most I've enjoyed a MCU movie since End Game, and probably my favorite MCU in general (With Guardians 1 right behind it)

Vol 2 is far and away my favorite MCU movie. The only one I ever want to rewatch honestly.

    Pee-Wee's Big Adventure - 9/10
The Foot Fist Way - 6/10
    They Cloned Tyrone - 8/10

To Live and Die in L.A. - 10/10 Just gonna copy and paste my LB review.

Another compelling case for the Willem Dafoe hot? congregation.

Probably the most fascinating deconstruction of the heroic, fringe cop at the height of its popularity in the 80s, was not expecting this to be as surreal as it was, feels like a Verhoeven film in a lot of ways.

William Peterson turns in the greatest Manbaby performance I've seen, Chance sucks so much shit and is a complete fuck-up every step of the way, it's satisfying seeing it all catch up to him.

Oh and it's so gloriously LA, so sleek and filled with empty suits going big.

I could live in the counterfeiting sequence near the start such a fascinating depiction of process and a complete antithesis to the rest of the film's wanton disregard for procedure.

  4. Evil Dead II - 9/10

is it weird that I preferred ED1 over ED2? After reading about how adored #2 is, I expected to walk away finding it supreme. It was fucking awesome but I think the original is slightly better.

next up is army of darkness and I have no idea if I’ll like it lol

  5. I also prefer Evil Dead to both films, although I could watch Army of Darkness all day.

Have you seen Evil Dead 2013?

  6. yes! in the theater and I remember loving it. I’m going to watch Army of Darkness and then rewatch ED2013 and then finish off with ED rise

I really like 2013 which makes me confused about why Rise completely didn't work for me.

  10. I think Rise is good, but not great in the same way 2013 is

  11. Listen that’s all fine but how can you help me grow my business

    Sorta mediocre viewing day.

Love Natalie Wood so I watched her caper movie Penelope which...eh. Too much bouncing between farce, psychobabble, and a bunch of other tones.

Big Jacques Tourneur fan so I gave Easy Living a watch and it was a dog. Kinda dull. Very sexist. Just no there there.

The Man I Love from Raoul Walsh (another favorite) was much better. Very soapy melodrama, but both he and Ida Lupino in the lead are up the task. Apparently Scorsese's primary influence for New York, New York.

  13. Dagon - 8.5/10

Looked at this DVD cover so many times at the rental store as a kid. Felt good to not only finally watch it, but love it. Gordon and Yuzna are an unreal team, and this feels like a near-perfect balance of horror filmmaking, genuine respect for the source material (no one else has adapted Lovecraft quite like them), and schlocky Full Moon Features vibes.

there are some really beautiful shots and one really cool spooky moment but other than that and the dance scene in the kitchen, there’s not all that much to take away from it imo

Dead Silence - 8/10, honestly I don't know if I could say this is a good movie, gun to my head. But I had a fucking blast and I think this isn't that far removed from a Malignant in Wan's catalogue. A lot of fun ideas spread throughout and Donnie Wahlberg's perpetually shaving detective constantly made me giggle.

    The Video Dead - 5/10

    The Civil Dead - 8/10
Just a really heartfelt and charming and funny hangout movie. Simple, unique, and super promising indie debut from Clay Tatum. I recommend this one!
