Wallen's previous was a double album, so if you think about it, he's got like six albums worth of material on the charts between those three albums. Still wild that he's that close to Taylor's total number given the utter dominance the Era's Tour has had over all aspects of music commerce this year.

Yeah, I think there's probably something to that. I guess I'm mostly surprised that it seems to span all genres, big artists and less well known artists, etc. I mean, some of this could also just be me not looking in the right places, but I usually have 1-2 things I'm really looking forward to every week in the summer and this summer has been super barren, comparatively.

 

This new song rocks, though. Some serious Adam Schlesinger vibes.

 

I think everybody's just off-cycle after a postpandemic 2022. August 25 is going to be a great release week!

I’m just bummed, 2020, 21, and 22 were all pretty stacked, imo.

 

When the heck did Noah Kahan get so big? I enjoyed that song Stick Season when it came out last year but I didn’t realize he was so popular.

Yeah this has been a disappointing year overall, but don’t sleep on that new The Maine album! Perfect summer pop rock album.
Also Softcult’s new EP is really good. It’s like Olivia if she listened to only shoegaze and Nirvana.

 

Now I’m getting sad imagining the alternate universe where Schlesinger has a couple co-writing credits on this thing

The Maine's record is growing on me. Not going to end up in their upper echelon for me, but it's been getting a lot of play, partially because nothing else of a ton of interest has come out lately.

He would have been the perfect collaborator for her. I really wish we had gotten to see it happen.
