i love the e street band but i'd really love to see bruce on his own, more stripped down. not necessarily like the broadway show, but, just a Bruce solo show. just him and a guitar for 2 hours. like, give me 2 hours of his 'storytellers' episode in a smaller theater.

My dream show, and i'd pay so much for this, like if i was a billionaire this is where my fuck you money is going.

Bruce learns 10 of Brian's songs, Brian learns 10 of Bruce's songs and they play a 20 song set together of each other's songs and stories along the way lol

  3. They absolutely ruled last night at Wrigley. The show feels more rehearsed, for lack of a better word, than ever before, down to the bits and banter and playing three hours on the dot. Not a bad thing by any means (they’re tight as hell, obviously), but I do wish they had one rotating deep cut or something to add a little spontaneity.

A lot of the old guard fans seem super upset that there's not a lot of spontaneity in this tour. I get it. I miss the requests, covers (someone in my Twitter feed noted that, on past tours, he totally would have cycled a song by The Band into the set last night to honor Robbie Robertson), and random setlist changes too. But I also get the appeal of a more rehearsed set.

the 'complaints' that this tour has been so scripted and regimented are not new at all. its a little bit making me not want to fully pull the trigger on buying a few Metlife shows. you know the last 30-40 mins of the show are gonna be the same every night for the most part, but a lot of this tours setlist is just, meh.

he was switching one or two songs up for a while but, doesnt seem to be doing so anymore.

I'm not going to make it to the tour, ultimately, given that my show was postponed and I can't make the rescheduled date. I like the set, though. As a big fan of Letter to You, I would have loved to hear those songs live.

I saw 3 shows on the UK run. They were largely the same but I loved every single minute. I do miss the spontaneity and the 'magic trick' of how Bruce makes his show feel like it's a one off for that crowd by pulling out a few surprises, but for whatever the reason we aren't getting that.

The new songs all sounded great live.

  8. Also, needs more Magic. He should be legally required to play “Girls In Their Summer Clothes” at every show in the summer.

The acoustic “Last Man Standing” was definitely a highlight.

I'm going to the second Metlife show and I've been wondering if he's going to change it up for those, I feel like he has to

He did 3 nights in Dublin with little change. 2 nights in London too. I think he has a 1st night/ 2nd night set but there isn't much change between them.

  11. I am seeing him the first night at MetLife and I think that's going to be it for me. Holding two tickets to 9/21 in Columbus still but between my work schedule, us having a wedding to go to in TN that weekend, and my dad's health issues I doubt we swing it.

But seeing Bruce in NJ with my little bro is gonna rule

I have seen 2 shows on the tour. If you only are seeing one show the lack of setlist changes does not matter much if at all - but if you are hitting 2+ shows it matters a ton. It bums me out, he could easily swap out about 7-10 songs nightly while keeping certain spots static and that "unknown" is so exciting as a fan. I don't miss the fan requests at all - felt like a gimmick to me anyway, especially when they would play a mediocre cover song. I don't need to hear Twist and Shout, ever.

  13. The more I think about it, I wonder if his time with the Broadway show influenced how he thinks about the E Street Band experience. With a Broadway production, the goal is to do essentially the same show every night as perfectly as possible, and that’s what this show felt like. And again - not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion, all the tricks work on me and I’d go to another date if I could.

It could be it. I do think the static setlist lose some of that 'greatest bar band in the world' spontaneity where it felt like Bruce was keeping his band on its toes by pulling a song out of the air just for that specific night and crowd.

I liked the requests. I got to see “Incident” once because of a sign request.

  16. The first time I saw him, the sign requests were “For You,” “Backstreets” (awesome), a cover I hadn’t heard before, and “Drive All Night” (cue 50% of the crowd flocking to the bathroom).

Yeah, those are mostly great, I guess what I'm saying is I want set surprises but I think the sign thing is a gimmick where he looks for the song they already plan to play most of the time.......I like the song surprise.......don't need the sign portion of it. If that makes sense. But whatever gets set variety!

The bathroom break is for the new soul cover songs, anything else is the wrong answer

I've actually never had to take a bathroom break during a Bruce show.

I'm still reeling I missed the entirety of The Promised Land in Birmingham a few weeks ago because of the queues.
