Stanford and Notre Dame ,(cal and uconn too). Okay now that would certainly save the acc

As fucking stupid as it would be to have 2 teams from North California in the Atlantic coast conference....

that doesn't do much for me if they're replacing clemson/fsu/whoever else is rumored to be leaving this week..but if it's just 4 additions then i guess it's not terrible

Notre dame currently has no plans on joining a conference. If they do it would be after the current tv deal they have with nbc expires and that’s not until 2025

Oh of course. I'm talking about not losing anyone and adding notre Dame, uconn, Stanford, cal. (I thought notre Dame, uconn, Memphis, and navy would suffice too but hey).

Eh hey that's not toooo far away.

The key is everyone coming together and finding ways to snub notre Dame out of the playoffs. That's the only way I see it

They would still find a way in. Especially if they have an undefeated/1 loss season this year or next. They are too popular of a school to be kept out of the playoffs even if they never join a conference and with the playoffs expanding it only raises their chances

I mean technically one of the divisions just is “Coastal” but doesn’t define with coast!

Whats funny is that other than teams jumping ship, there really aren't that many free agent schools east of the Mississippi left. Like say we try and get all the teams to 18...so 4 more for acc and 2 for sec.

Who's left? Notre Dame, uconn, memphis seem like the top 3 imo. Then I'd say navy? But then who? Uab? Tulane? Charlotte? Appalachian state? North Texas? Tulsa? Utsa?

Idk. Mayyyyybe in some universe UAB makes sense. Idk none of these programs really seem like the kind the acc and especially the sec would ever remotely consider adding.

Most of the best expansion teams are mountain west (insane the pac was so reluctant to ever adding teams)

    The rivalry is back on

I have no idea how Notre Dame could possibly be persuaded to join the ACC

Feels like zero chance that they couldn’t negotiate a football TV deal on their own that beats the ACC share until they get out of their exclusivity window with them

bleak pool now, but I’m sure that list will read better in 5 years after a team or two puts a half decade of AAC/Sun Belt dominance on paper

The agreement they have with the acc and playing a partial acc schedule is that if they where to ever join a conference it would be the acc and not the big ten or anywhere else.

Brutal corporate branding of stadiums is definitely near the top of my list of "old man complaining about sports used to be better back in the day" list.

Not to mention every sports complex these days seems to be (in part) tax payer funded and every single one fail to deliver the economic impact they sell to the community leaders while displacing tons of folks. Brutal.
