I'm assuming Rebuilder is on deck to be a replacement

Tegan and sara on wednesday at a place as small as the bottom lounge is fucking cool. Same with Frank Turner at Chop Shop. Thursday and bayside aftershows are interesting too.

Really need the schedule to choose some of these. Probs I will do Thursday/Braid

Did I miss Sleeping With Siren being on the lineup?

I'm kind of relived that I only have 1 show I will be going to and it's on a Thursday. That way I can focus on the festival itself without worrying about leaving early every night.

Honestly nothing I'd go to, tbh? I'm not going to the fest this year, but even then, nothing I feel like I'm missing out on. Bayside at Bottom Lounge would be cool though, even if I think the venue kinda sucks.

They're opening The Used's tour that surrounds Riot

Or they are just doing the after show. Bands have done that in the past

Bayside at Bottom Lounge is the only one I think I'd go to. Don't necessarily feel like I need to see them there and the fest, though, even if they're one of my favorites.

Also the Eagles play Thursday Night Football that night at the same time, which makes the decision to not go a little easier.

Thank god there’s nothing I want to go to. I was worried balance would do one

Yes but last year Sparta was just playing the TGUK after show until they were added as a replacement - hence with them already being in town - they are on deck (merely means it a possibility they get added as a replacement, nothing more nothing less)

I'll be going to Pup but that's it. Would do Bayside but I'm going to a different show that night

Some really great aftershows, I'm not sure I really understand the schedule though...?
Festival ends at 10, doors open at 10 and some of those venues are like a solid 20-30 minutes drive away (which of course, with all the crowd leaving and mess, is likely to be at least an hour away in reality).

Is it necessary to leave the festival early to get to those? Doors at 10 and there's a warmup, what time will the main act start? What's the most feasible way to get to somewhere like Chop Shop on time, and how rushed is it? First time at Riot so I'm quite confused.

Chop Shop is like a block from the Blue line - doors are 10 - show isn't until 11, you can get there with little to no issue using ride share or public transit - I went to TGUK last year with no issue

Bayside and Pup for sure. Maybe H2O depending on what the pizza party is looking like this year

Who's in the mix for that this year? Origami Angel, Just Friends, Pool Kids, and Free Throw all seem possible. I almost want to say Smoking Popes too... But that feels a bit "too big" or whatever, given that it's Chicago.

It depends on the venue honestly. Cobra and Bottom Lounge are just a very short walk a few stops away on the pink line. Empty Bottle is accessible via the bus and not terrible to get to. Chop Shop is right off the blue line stop at Damen but you have to get to the blue line so it does require switching lines and I would say is somewhat far. Metro and Concord are the farthest away they are on the opposite side of the city basically, so for those I would definitely give yourself plenty of time especially if you are looking to catch an opener, they are off the red line (Metro) and blue line (Concord).

Feels like the last couple years it hasn’t been bands on the lineup so really just anyone in that Fest punk category could work. Pool Kids also makes sense

I think OA is basically getting on a flight to Japan right after their set, so I don't think they fit. I'm hoping for Pool Kids, there isn't a ton for me Saturday until later in the afternoon and if I can see them at the PPP and show up late for the fest, I would love it.

Pool Kids would be great, I missed them last time they came to town with Origami Angel

Real shame no one is talking about the Nothing/High Vis aftershow. I'd be there in a fucking heartbeat if I still lived in the area,

I've been digging into High Vis lately and really loving them! But by the same note, I would be hard-pressed to stay awake at a show with that kinda drone-y energy start to finish after a day of festival standing. LOL

High Vis live is anything but drone-y, but point taken on staying up late.

I haven't seen High Vis but based on the record that's what I would be expecting... Glad to hear it's not, though, TBH! Because Nothing is almost exclusively drone-y (which is, y'know, by design so I get it).

I would totally do Thursday and Braid if I wasn’t sure I would fall asleep at an aftershow.
