Teenage Wrist - “Still Love” (August 4, 2023)

I’m very into this sound. I know it’s not what they started as but it’s beautiful melodic grunge. Sunshine is one of the best singles I’ve heard all year.

Give me a record full of those guitar tones.

 

This sounds quite good - I’m very tempted to preorder

 

Other singles were fine but this is my shit.

 

They also announced a very sick tour

Honestly I’m mostly excited to finally get a chance to see Trauma Ray on this tour. Bummed Initiate isn’t playing the Boston date but I’ll take what I can get.

 

also bummed Dallas isn't getting Initiate, but Spiritual Cramp will be cool

 

Preordered! EIABH is still a huge favorite and I'm big hyped for this!

 

Love it. 3/4 for me with the singles. Didn’t care for Diorama.

 

On first listen I was like "whoa this sounds a lot like 311."

This is my least favorite Wrist record but I do applaud them for taking big swings.

 

Sprawled might be my favorite Teenage Wrist song now. Incredible.

 

Opener is cool, but this drum production is kind of whack

EDIT: Title track is great.

 

Not sure how I feel about it after first listen. Not loving all the features (I’m a feature hater) and some of the songs seem flat to me. Starting up second listen and really hoping it grows on me.

 

Album is swing and miss for me

 

Really liking this album a ton. Surprised by some of the negative initial feedback but to each their own.

It’s…fine. Good, even. Sprawled is wonderful.

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I thought EIABH was a perfect rock record. Beautiful tones, really catchy songwriting. I still spin it pretty regularly and enjoy it immensely. The highest highs on this record meet that record well, but the consistency is lacking.

Part of this comes from living in a time with so much music out there, if your last record isn’t a total barnburner or has a monster single, it’s incredibly easy to be forgotten. Some of history’s most successful bands had years of “fine” albums before bouncing back. Not every record is a classic.
