I probably do overestimate their fame. I was never into them when they were active prior to their most recent reunion but I do recall seemingly everyone else being into them + their well known ties to Bruce and them headlining some festivals + they seem to get mainstream coverage a lot. I just always assumed they were huge. I didn't get into TGA until a few years ago, and given they haven't played CLE in 8 years, I figured there would be huge demand for them...at least The Agora.

I’m not super into them or anything, but I assumed they were pretty big too. I had also assumed they had a cult following of sorts, so selling out venues wouldn’t be an issue.

I recall the local alt station near my hometown used to play 45 a bunch. So I also assumed that was a big hit

I feel like they went away, came backm toured major markets and everyone was so stoked to see them again so it did well. Now without a new album or a tour hook (i.e. - anniversary shows), their draw has fallen off. Either way, I'm stoked to see them again at Riot.

They are releasing a new album tho + the hook is that they haven't hit a lot of these cities in 8-10 years.

I'm seeing them for the first time ever in September and couldn't be more geeked!

The "reunion" and "album play" vibes definitely gave Gaslight a solid bump. But they'll be comfortably playing 1.5-3k venues for the rest of their careers, I think. So long as they don't oversaturate, people respond well to the new music, etc.

    Fun must be always. Prestigious

this is just a random thought but the fact Taylor Swift’s era merch truck can just park outside the venue and probably make as much as most bands make in a lifetime in one summer is wild.

didn't know Jimmie's Chicken Shack was still around. don't know if I'd go out of my way to see them in 2023, but I can't lie, I used to jam their first two records

Welcome To Rockville is gonna be May 9-12 next year. Hopefully they can keep a lineup like LTL

I just want to get back to the Jimmie's Chicken Shack discourse. It's a close race but, to me, Bring Your Own Stereo > Pushing The Salmanilla Envelope

  15. I’ve listened to Envelope a couple times but it didn’t connect with me the way Stereo did. BYOS is sooo good.

Yeah you're right, especially the back half is really cool. I think "Do Right" might have even made it to TRL a few times oddly enough but that never seemed to propel them.

Yeah, I remember it making it to like #10 or #9 for a day or two on TRL. Really strange. For me, those two albums might as well be two completely different bands. PTSE is just a funky, hard rock stoner record. BYOS is straight pop-rock. So comparing the two head on is hard but I'd give it to BYOS too. PTSE is an easier listen front to back but the highs on BYOS are super high (so much so that it overcomes the filler tracks).

Lollapalooza likely going to dominate the discourse for the next few days so I imagine Olivia Rodrigo announcement next week.

Unrelated, but I imagine that whenever Mitski tours next she'll be doing arenas and it will be a shitshow presale.

Looking at the seat map, it's clear to see why they did this lol
