Hmm…on one hand I think he’s very wrong because there are lots of other things to do in the city besides go out to bars. All sorts of events and shit!
But yeah I do find the sentiment this person is expressing in the article as wild (covid aside, of course)

Yeah especially moving to a new city, if you think the entire point is to go to bars and meet women you’re probably that creepy kid all the girls are weirded out by haha. maybe uh I don’t know get some hobbies and meet some friends?

 

I’d rather meet someone on an app than at a bar so

I have legit not been single since the app industry took over the dating/hook up scene so I can’t really speak to it haha. I feel like I’d probably enjoy the convenience an app offers but at the same time the idea of going out and meeting someone spontaneously was/is exciting IMO. It’s kinda crazy to me that people without anxiety issues or covid concerns find the idea of doing that to be unthinkable haha

Dating apps are a hellscape.

Never ending accounts wanting to sell porn or just have you as a follower on their Instagram.

I feel like I’ve swiped through all of central florida on multiple apps. I’ve given up. I’m moving soon and will probably try them again there. Not expecting much.

 

There was a time when dating apps were a lot of fun and you’d meet a lot of people you connect with that you would have never run into. I got back into them a little bit after my separation and it was not the same experience, it was awful.
Still, limiting your dating options to people you meet in bars is dumb imo but everyone should date how the hell they want I don’t actually care

 

Hinge is actually a decent dating app. And I’m sorry but I’m not going up to anyone at a bar and bothering them because I would be fucking annoyed if someone did that to me.

 

My plan is to just die alone at this point

 

I met my gf on Hinge and before that I had better luck with meeting others through there. When I first started on dating apps I was looking up how to approach it and some advice I read from a blog is that other people on the apps are also out there looking to meet and connect with others so it didn't seem like I was intruding on anyone

 

After all that I’m just realizing that I met my current gf in a bar

 

yep. If someone is on an app they want to talk/meet. If someone is at a bar who knows what they want and I don’t want to bother them. Tinder is all spam basically and bumble or whatever is okay but hinge is easily the best and they only one I’d use.
