  1. I've heard BTD on mainstream and pop stations, but I'm still surprised by the 100k difference.

GD started promotion on release week, while Blink was promoting all summer before it came out. Maybe GD is going more for a slow build?

Just listened to their Jimmy Fallon performance. Song sounded very bad religion.

This album is wayyy better than I ever anticipated it being. Obviously still not their best (that would be Warning), but I really enjoyed at least half of it, which is saying something. Opening and closing tracks are awesome.

I finally got around to this (kind of a stacked couple weeks with TBS, Sum 41 and Yellowcard) but I have to say I really like this. Better than anything since American Idiot. On the first listen through, the first 4 tracks and Still Breathing stand out a lot. I'll also say it's their strongest album opener since Burn Out IMO.

Whoa. That's a pretty bold opinion. Nice Guys Finish Last and American Idiot are incredible openers too. I might even take 21CB over Somewhere Now regardless of how I feel about the album as a whole.

Edit: I forgot that Song of the Century is technically the album opener of 21CB. Meh.

I just really like Burn Out. I think it's their best, just jumps right into it. I do like American Idiot a bunch and Nice Guys is cool but I can't help but to see the football music video when I hear it. I think Somewhere is just such a good song.

21CB is their best opener imo, but that may be because that song opening that tour was one of the best concert experiences I've ever had

I'll say when I saw them on the 21stCB, it was a pretty awesome opener. On cd though, I still prefer burnout and Somewhere.

  14. Just throwing some love for 2000 Light Years Away and Nice Guys Finish Last as great openers.

I think my opinion on Revolution Radio is it's kind of like California in a way in that I think they were trying too hard to write a "Green Day album" and it placed limitations on their sound.

Partly because I can go through the different songs and pick out the old song it reminds me of (Bouncing off the Wall is Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Youngblood is She's a Rebel, etc), partly because Billie Joe keeps going for that particular kind of sort-of-clever lyric he likes so much ("anti-social media", "“are you scared to death to live") etc. It's a Green Day album, nothing more, nothing less. And while in some ways that's good after their previous excesses, it's also hard to get massively enthusiastic.

I mean, there's some really enjoyable stuff, I just don't think it's going to have much staying power for me

Maybe it's due to the letdown of the trilogy and 21CB (hot take alert), but I really dig Revolution Radio (despite its album title). Lots of catchy stuff on here, I'm reminded off an on of Warning and Nimrod on a few tracks and IMO they just sound revitalized.

And I don't care if Say Goodbye is basically a Holiday retread, that song rules.

"Say Goodbye" reminds me a lot of The Living End. I also like the Johnny B Goode shoutout on "Forever Now."

I actually think Say Goodbye sounds more like something that would have fit in on Warning than Holiday

    one day you'll feel okay

I usually like Green Day's slower/experimental songs (like Give Me Novacaine, Restless Heart Syndrome, 21 Guns, I even love Nightlife), but the ones on this album do absolutely nothing for me. Somewhere Now/Bang Bang/RevRad is an incredible 1-2-3 punch, Too Dumb to Die is one of the best songs they've ever done, Forever Now is up there with Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming for me and Troubled Times is fantastic.

But Say Goodbye, Outlaws, Bouncing Off the Walls, Youngblood and Ordinary World all completely kill the flow of the album (for me). I don't know what they were thinking making Ordinary World the final track considering what a perfect closer Forever Now is.

I love this album. It coincided with my vacation to California which made it extra special.

Fucking youngblood has been stuck in my head for days now.

Such a solid album. Really proud of my boys

*troubled times is up there with worst green day song ever though haha

Damn those are some of my favorite tracks on the album. Ordinary World is a beautiful way to end the album

I can see this. I wonder if 21CB and the Trilogy would have been as good as AI if I'd like this album as much as I do or if I'm just excited because they have an album that isn't bland and like you said, revitalized.

I love Novacanine and Restless Heart, favs off those albums. I agree the first three tracks are the best and I find myself trying to listen to the album all the way through but I keep skipping back to the beginning.

Forever Now is such a damn good song. I like this album as it is, but that song makes me wish I liked the whole thing more, if that makes any sense. Between the two Now songs I get a pretty good picture of what they were going for here, but I think it could've been executed better. Every time I listen, those two (almost) bookends sort of fool me into thinking I like the album more than I actually do.
