Reminder that Chance loves his wife. But for real, Coloring Book era Chance was selling out 12k-15k outdoor amphitheaters. The next tour was supposed to be The Big Day in arenas but the onsale bombed and eventually was cancelled. Not the craziest plan to assume selling out amphitheaters means the next step is to go to arenas. BUT that really goes to show just how poorly recieved that album was. Doesn't help not having a lead single pop off or have The Big Day come out before the tour announcement so you lose all the fans that would blindly go see Chance regardless of how trash Hot Shower is. Messy and not surprising his tour life has been silent.

My cousin loved his older stuff, I loved Colouring Book. He pivoted, won a Grammy with Colouring Book, then the old AND new fans collectively stopped caring after The Big Day. It was weird

The Big Day is a true testament to how one bad record can change your entire career.

I've seen chance like 5 or 6 times. Been to every major tour from acid rap on. It was crazy to see every venue he play get bigger and bigger till it just stoped. In florida he was already playing arenas on coloring book. I even had tickets to the big day tour. Thought maybe 1 bad album wouldn't kill his career and there would still be hype to play his old stuff. But boy I was wrong.

Was going to say he sold out United Center (true) and a couple other arenas doing Acid Rap so there must be some interest left, but then realized he is not even close to selling out Forum or Barclays. I mean I'm sure the shows will end up selling fine. He probably needs to accept he's not an arena artist outside of Chicago

His fall off is crazy. I remember seeing people make mock lineups back in the day with him headlining Coachella

    Things have changed.

That one 30STM tour was particularly bad. The Rockstar Disrupt festival had hilarious photos every day.

Talking about tours doing well, second summer in a row Mudvayne is drawing really well. Nonpoint has been posting crowd pictures and the places look very very full.

The last year of Rockstar Mayhem with Slayer, King Diamond, etc, I remember not doing well.

the stories that came out about that tour after the fact and how Slayer had to approve every band on that lineup and were probably semi responsible for it being bad are wild.

I'm pretty certain he was offered a second line slot at Coachella in I think 2018, and his manager said they turned it down because they didn't wanna return to Coachella unless it was headlining.

Also recall hearing similar things about Bon Iver in the 2014-2016 timeframe. I think their team was expecting them to be headliner caliber with 22, a Million and it didn't really take off like that. Not like they are complaining, they're still selling out arenas in select markets.

Oh god Disrupt festival was awkward to be at. Also hilarious that the date in my area was the same day as Sad Summer, so I don't know who fucked up with that scheduling.

I got free tickets for Disrupt, I imagine a lot of people there also got in for free, and even then there were MAYBE 3,000 people scattered around a 19,000 seat ampitheater.

Watching Atreyu try to pump up a mostly empty amphitheater will never not be hilarious

Disrupt was funny. Literally no one there all day until the used played my show. Second to last and still maybe a quarter full amphitheater. And then when thrice when on after, half the crowd left. Maybe 500 people during thrice scaterd around an amphitheater. I felt so bad for them.

My date of Disrupt was weird because it was the only one that actually did well. Lol. The amphitheater was packed by the time Atreyu came on and was pretty consistent throughout the night. I do recall a few people dipped after Sum 41, and then a lot of people left after The Used. I thought that was weird since Thrice was the last band on that night and it was a hometown show for them. So that was a bummer to see. But compared to everyone else’s experience, mine was radically different.

So not only did the Underoath/Ghost Inside show here in NYC get moved from a 6k venue to a 1k venue, even after the move it's still not sold out. AND I'm finding plenty of ticket giveaways.

6k was definitely a reach, but I'm actually shocked and bummed that its selling this poorly. I would've thought a 3k venue like Terminal 5 would've reached capacity for this bill.

Oh well, I entered my name in one of the giveaways. If I get a pair I'm looking forward to a great show.

Yeah Irvine was definitely the outlier for the tour, honestly didn't even notice many leaving before Thrice.

fun fact I found out: most of the time if they are running a giveaway, you win because they wouldn’t run give aways if the show had people buying tickets haha

Has anyone been to one of this years Is For Lovers fests? Is it normal tear down and set up between bands, or are they fairly quick about it/have a rotating stage?

haha yeah I’ve definitely noticed that when they say they’re giving away a “pair” of tickets usually it means they have hundreds
