Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

i dont like step one that much. byebyelove is a very powerful song in the context of the albums narrative. i havent paid attention to the lyrics of step one to know if it would fit as a good replacement but either way it doesnt fit with the vibe of the rest of the album. sonically its darker and the lyrics just dont seem to pop in the same way. plus i dont think its a great song anyway, its pretty plodding.

the band have said in the past that they dont really care about the sequence of the tracks on an album, they just care about making a collection of songs. that was said (maybe by zach) like 9 years ago (on AP i think); although after damage id be very inclined to think that they dont hold that belief anymore. he might have only been talking about the writing phase though, in terms of not deliberately writing songs with a greater arc in mind, but perhaps still caring about the sequencing down the line, im not sure. my memory might be hazy of this anyway.

  2. @Craig Manning and I recorded an episode of Encore all about this album today. I hope to have it up next Thursday right before the album drops.

  4. When I saw them in Arizona in 2009, it was DEFINITELY the best setlist I've ever seen by any band:

All of Clarity and then What Would I Say To You Now, 23, Big Casino, Work, Pain, The Middle, and Sweetness

Not sure if this has been shared already but it's so good it deserves to be posted twice anyway so here you go

so good. would love for JEW to do an acoustic reimagining of one of their albums. with all the little extra things they add to their songs musically and their harmonies it could really be something beautiful.

Why even bother opening your computer to write that review? That guy clearly had nothing to say.

That sure is nice. I prefer Get Right acoustic though. I think Jim's voice is more comfortable in the higher register that Get Right is in.

Basically, "Hey, this is like a Jimmy Eat World album."

    The end.

That same site did a similar clickbait review of blink-182's California over a month out of release. So frustrating haha

That's the same site? Oh god. That was such an awful review. They only went into detail about the songs that had already been released and then summarized the rest of the album by saying ( I'm paraphrasing ) "fans of Blink will like the songs on this album." So bad.

    Newbie

They added "If You Don't, Don't" and "Polaris" (!!!) to the setlist tonight in Madison. Replaced "Authority Song" and "Hear You Me." How does this band continuously get better live with every tour? Incredible show.

Jimmy Eat World Setlist at House of Blues, Atlantic City this was one of the best Jimmy Eat World shows I've been to. they were so tight, excellent set list. the performance of Goodbye Sky Harbor was back when he was using the (don't recall the name) loop machine to add all the extra harmonies and the song ended with nothing but Jim singing "I am but one small instrument" a cappella.

The closest JEW ever came to my area was Saskatoon in 2008 - I missed it and they're never coming back.

There's a fantastic new interview with the band up on Vice.
I love how honest, genuine and introspective these guys are when asked good questions.

Also, that clickbait-y headline made my heart sink. I can't imagine a world without JEW.

Regina. We get passed over for a lot of decent bands because Saskatoon has better promoters and you know there's only gonna be maximum one stop in Saskatchewan. When a band like Death Cab or City & Colour rolls through its like an arena full of people who know 2 songs lol

you ever make the trek to Edmonton or Calgary for shows?... not that either Edmonton or Calgary are golden standards for getting shows and touring bands hitting them haha. but im sure its better than Regina.
