Idk there used to be a car on my street with a "PCKLRCK" (or something like that) vanity plate and I can't imagine someone having an ITYSL plate

 

I just don’t see it. There’s no pretentiousness on the level of Rick and Morty fans. If anything, I also find them less annoying than most podcast fans who develop weird relationships with hosts they don’t know

 

All fandoms are awful tbh.

 

The idea that the fandom of ITYSL is comparable to the fandom of Rick and Morty is laughable in every conceivable way.

All fandoms get like this when their show is popular. It happened to Breaking Bad, it happened to Game of Thrones, it happened to American Horror Story, and more and more. There's a difference between using tons of ITYSL memes believing it's a fantastic comedy show and going to a McDonald's and screaming "I want Szechuan Sauce, IM PICKLE RICK" and the 1000s of other people who think they're the Ricks of the world.

I think it helps that I don't really interact with Rick and Morty incels who pay $8 a month so Elon will notice them senpai

I was being a little hyperbolic but the CONSTANT quoting and memes and people making 50 tacos hats and getting crooner stickers for their cars... It's insufferable.

Again, I love the show but I don't even go into the thread here bc it's just too much.

 

I just genuinely can’t imagine caring about how insufferable a fandom of something is. I may judge people for being too embarrassingly into something, but I don’t understand why it is ever brought up whenever people discuss the thing itself.

It always ends up feeling like people struggling to know how to talk about an actual thing, so instead they just fall back on talking about other people in relation to that thing, and it is never amounts to anything deeper than the most shallow take of “some people seem to be getting way too into this piece of media and it is annoying.” Like wow great insight there, fun discussion, I’m left with so much to contemplate now

but also, yeah sorry until a fandom storms every McDonalds across the country over some shitty dipping sauce, none will come close to the insanity of Rick and Morty fans lol

 

Lol what the fuck. People quoting ITYSL is not the same as fucking weirdo rick and morty fans who make it their entire personality and think they’re smarter and deeper than everyone else because they like rick and morty.

 

Also rick and morty is actually dumb and bad and ITYSL isn’t.

 

Nah, Rick and Morty is pretty funny, there are just certain fans who fuck it all up.

Though I'm not sure I'll be able to watch the Roiland episodes ever again, I'll still watch with the new cast

 

This would be my complaint about the fan base that does nothing but quote the show. They're not discussing a piece of art or adding any insight. Just saying "remember that funny thing they said"

I watched maybe 3 episodes and didn’t laugh once. Truly do not get it.

I’m pretty sure the pretentiousness thing about Rick and Morty is just a meme because some fedora lord ranted on Reddit one time

I’m also positive some dork out there has made a similar rant about ITYSL, and 100% if a fast food restaurant offered sloppy steaks you’d get a bunch of self proclaimed pieces of shit screaming and pouring water everywhere
